Mistaken Date Stamp in Passport

Post by certocito »

My wife and I returned from Singapore today through Don Muang airport. When we got home to HH I checked my wife's passport and the immigration desk she went through has only given her 30 days via the stamp. We have an O visa which is active until the end of Jan 13. I checked mine and the desk I went through gave me a stamp until 3 Mar 13. Question: has anyone had this problem before and can we just go to Immigration here in HH and have the problem rectified or will we have to do another visa run (or transfer to O-A) as the only solutions..?? Any help appreciated.

Happened to me too ,from now on i check the stamp, basically i was told i would have to go to bangkok and have it changed or they could change it now for a "small fee" this was in another immigration office not hua hin and i had the help of the tourist police or something like that who work in the immigration office to help with problems.

You may get things sorted out in HH and that would be my first port of call but as jingjoe has mentioned you might be pointed in the direction of BKK.
Either way, it's something that you should sort out asap to avoid later confusion.
Easy to say now, but always check the date given you at point of entry. Mistakes are quite common.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I'll try HH office first, probably closed today for the Kings Birthday me thinks, but will pop down anyway. Thanks again.

Slightly different situation but early this year on the 1st January I landed at BKK on an OA visa and instead of giving me a one year entry until 31/12/12 they stamped it until 31/12/13. I. Didn't notice at the time but when I went to Imm at HH, they changed the date in my passport and initialed it and I had no problems next time I left LOS.

So if it's to their detriment, it can be changed very quickly and easily and free of charge.
But if its to your detriment, they point you towards BKK or say it can be sorted for a fee...... :?

Bit late in updating on this. Went to HH Immigration, spoke to the lady sitting outside. She took my wife's passport inside, they changed the date to the correct one and returned the passport to my wife - took 5 mins and no charge as the mistake was their fault.. Result..!!
