Where to buy food items not available in Hua Hin

Sorry I have not posted much yet as I am in the process of moving from Phuket so do not know much about things up there.
If anyone misses British style Indian Curries I am moving my bussiness and will be looking into advertising on the forum in the near future.
I have been a chef for 30 years and have worked in Curry houses back in the UK and I have been making curries here on Phuket for the last 5 years.

Bring it on!! Just got to find beef cheeks, makes the best Curry!!

I have direct experience of Sausage King products out of Chiang Mai and have to say they are excellent, as is the whole ordering / delivery process. It's a flat 350 baht for up to 15 kg weight (not 25kg as posted earlier) for a reliable door to door courier service delivery (not Thailand Post!).
While in no way decrying the quality of the products available locally here in Hua Hin, there is nowhere near the same variety of product available from all of the Hua Hin outlets put together as there is offered by Sausage King. Apart from his wide selection of sausages there are also many types of pies (both savoury and sweet), bacon, ham, meats (cooked and uncooked, local and imported), Indian curries and American food ... and more besides including Christamas puddings and mince pies! The quality of his products is great and they are all FDA approved.

easyas, I don't know where you've been shopping, but you have mentioned nothing in the above list that isn't also available at Hua Hin Ham & Bacon, not withstanding other suppliers in the area. Do you really need to pay for a courier service, when it's all available on your own doorstep?

^^ Was just thinking the very same thing - maybe apart from the Indian curries. No skin off my nose of course, but JD must be tearing his hair out. (Make that his beard...)
Maybe he should move to Phnom Phen and sell over the Internet?

Sorry, but I don't agree that Hua Hin Ham & Bacon has anywhere near the range of goods offered by Sausage King (http://www.sausageking1.com). In any event, HH H & B is not on my doorstep - I have a largish pick up truck and parking's tricky there. I'm quite happy to pay 350 baht once in a while for the luxury of a door to door service.

Obviously it's down to personal choice.

Regarding parking, you rarely visit Hua Hin Ham & Bacon without seeing a pick up parked outside. I've taken my Ford Ranger (larger than most pick ups) there several times, and have had no trouble whatsoever parking.

I'd personally rather support my local businesses, and hopefully they'll still be there when I need them.

I think that what lets down HH H&B is that they don't have a proper website where you can see everything that they offer, whereas this Sausage King do have a pretty impressive website. I would advocate that some time/money spent on getting their website up to scratch would be a wise investment - paying a visit or telephoning isn't always a suitable solution.

I have to agree a working website and home delivery would please many who do not wish to travel and park in a narrow soi already blocked by Big Boy not to mention his truck
I would happily support a local supplier provided they offered at least equal price and quality.
I personally do not care for the sausage in Ham and Bacon and have found others in Bangkok and even Pattaya to my taste who will deliver to my door and as a bonus are even cheaper( bulk freezer order) including delivery.

Hua Hin Ham & Bacon also have a freezer in the shopping mall which doesn't stock all his products but I buy bacon, sausages and pies from there which is convenient if you are doing a general shop and we have always got a parking spot there.

An interesting statement there. Quality generally determines price. I have never seen a shop as clean as HHH&B, and that must go a long way to demonstrating quality. How do you know what you are getting from on-line suppliers? How clean is their manufacturing process? You only have to look at the various kitchens of different eating establishments around Hua Hin. Some are spotless, others you simply wouldn't want to put their product anywhere near your lips. This is replicated throughout Thailand in many ways. If their prices are cheaper, are they cutting back on cleanliness or something equally as important? I don't know, but with food products, I really wouldn't want to take the chance.

This shouldn't really turn into a "pros and cons of HHH&B" thread, as there are so many other outlets for good fresh or frozen western food items in HH. And for my part, I'm not criticising people for buying on line, just saying that from my point of view I can't understand why it's necessary. But enough already, I think.

I use HHB sometimes but now find same quality but cheaper elsewhere. Some others I know prefer either the bacon, sausages etc that can be had in BK. Many local cafes have their supplies shipped in from BK

Did you used to have an outlet in Khon Kaen? I ask because I used to get Indian curries from a man there who had them made and shipped either from Phuket or Pattaya. If it was you they were the real McCoy
