Colmans English Mustard

Post by Jim »

Can you buy it anywhere in HH? It is one of my wife's necessities of life.

Thanks.

It's av over here, as I saw it a few weeks or so ago when looking for Guldens brown mustard from the States, my favorite. Anyway, I can launch a few jars adrift from this side of the Gulf with a tracking chip super glued to the cap or, it would give me a good excuse to drive down there.

Maybe a good idea, I'll check Carrefour here for goodies you guys don't have, load up and we'll have a weekday market on some quite soi. :D

I don't know if you guys can get things like Norwegian smoked salmon over there but it is great stuff, an entire salmon, razor thin sliced for about 900 baht. Even if thawed, lasts more than a month in the frig. Smaller packages of 200 and 100 gm around 190 and 105 baht. I'm hungry! Pete

I like the old style Colemans mustard powder in a tin that you can still buy in Thailand, I hadn’t seen it for years in Europe.

Sometimes I re-read my posts (not just here) and come to find my meaning went astray. Above not to suggest a "here/there" attitude.

What I meant is if some old hands down there are really craving for something and give me a list, I'll look and get it to you if I can. Pete

Thanks guys, the clear message seems to be that we can get it if we look for it rather than having to ship it in from Farangland. Good news.

I've never felt the need to have an English breakfast when I'm over, but do you get offered mustard with it? I'm happy with nam bpla prik, but the wife needs her mustard.

You can also get it in the Chinese Supermarket in Chom Sin Road.

I think it is sold in Pikeyland because the Pikey's use it to smear on a dogs arses to make them run faster.

And I get it from Waitrose to use in cooking. Its still better than the made up stuff when you do it yourself for use as a condiment as well.

Hi Jaime, is that right? you have Tesco Lotus in Whales now!
But I have to admit that possibly the reason I never see it in Europe is that I only go there on work, so I stay in hotels and never go shopping!

You've been away too long Steve. We have Tesco but without the Lotus, so no aisles of religious paraphernalia or packaged pig uterus!

Ahh yes they do. What they do is mince it up mix it with some stale breadcrumbs, stuff it in to a condom, curl it round to look like a dog's turd and call it Cumberland Sausage.

Goes down a treat with Colmans mustard, with or without the feline urine.

Have to agree with Jaime on the Whales situation. You must have been away longer than me. The Welsh (if indeed you did mean Wales not Whales) and the other Celtic nation of the British Isles have advanced way beyond England. The Welsh have even been smart enough to build two brtigdes between the two contries wher thay charge you to get into Wales but let you out for free hence boosting the economy even further. Wales now ranks 15th best standard of livings in the world against Englands, 121st position which is just ahead of Zaire and just behind France.
