Getting low denomination US$

Post by richard »

Off to Viet Nam in January and need US$.

Where can I get crisp, low denomination green-backs from please.

How do I pay? Bht, Sterling or debit/credit card?

All advice welcome

Tried banks and exchange booths in Hua Hin and got "mai dai" from both (I did want a big wad though).

You can get dollars at the airport though they charge you a little for the conversion.

A tip for Vietnam: don't bother with small denominations, they'll charge you more for converting them into Dong - you get a better rate with 50s and 100s.

+1 for the airport, BKK at least. No idea about Don Mueang.

Small bills are useful at immigration. IIRC there are no ATMS before passing through immigration and no change for foreign currency.
