Thanks for the soup flies Pete!

Its too late now, and time will surely tell.

Maybe you just had a dodgy batch? They have a good reputation, and currently they are running whisper quiets. Chalk and Cheese to the old crappy ones!

Surely I will report should anything go wrong, but I hope I do not have to do that for many years to come.

We bought and got instald a "Mitsubishi heavy duti jetflow" for nearly 2 years ago for 16.000 bath
in our bedrom, and the 1 service was free. Its very silentand we save about 2/3 on our bill every month
compare to the old one.
Its a small company up on the Palau road about 300 m. after Lavale on the left side.
Their tlf no. is office no o32827298 and mobile no. : 0899999309 and they speak some english as well.
actelly they call us up after 6 month and ask if everything was working to our satisfaction.

Highly recommend this compnay.. I think the actual name is Hua Hin Air Conditioning (have to consult wife). Recently installed 4 Mitsubishi units in 2 different office location... On time. Keep appoinments. Price acceptable... and actual installation first class.

Does anybody know if the local installers recommended above (Hua Hin Air Center, Big Kiang or Pure) would be able to cover the outdoor pipe runs with "Air Conditioner Pipe/Cable Cover" as it's called on one web site I looked at? Like this:

I'm sure they all would. That type of PVC covering has been standard with every aircon I've bought here. They should have done it at installation as part of the price. Pete

Thanks. Good to know it's not some alien, farang thing. :)

An unscientific survey of townhouses in my moobaan, though, indicate it's not very common. If I do decide to add a downstairs air con to my rented townhouse (need to see if I can sell my Jomtien condo soon...) I probably will buy from PowerBuy or Big Kiang and trust that they will know what I am talking about. Especially now that I have that photo.
