Meeting old friends by accident

Amazing night. I am on my Christmas holiday 22.12-7.1 and so I’ve been able to come to my home town for a bit longer visit. Yesterday a friend, whom I’ve known since we were two and with whom I played football in the junior team in -76 called me and said, he’d be visiting our home town as well and we decided to go to watch our local ice-hockey team’s match (for the first time in decades they’ve been playing well and were 2nd. before tonight’s match. Well, we lost but that’s not the story.)

Before the match we went for a pre-match beer and saw another guy who played in the same team with us. After the first period we were 0-1 down so we needed another beer. Then we met yet another guy from our -76 football team and I said that now we are only one player short to have our complete defensive line of -76. And, during the second break, there he was. But it didn’t end there, the last guy to join us said that two of our coaches from 75-78 were there too. So we missed the whole third period of the ice-hockey match (not that it mattered out team lost 1-3), because we stayed in the pub and talked about the old days.

Now, what odds would you give for that? We played football together in the mid 70’s and met in an ice-hockey match in early 10’s.

You'll know of the weird happenings in the LOS BG. You are talking about someone you might not have seen in years, and they suddenly walk into your bar! But your re-union would take some beating - you couldn't plan it.

Whats more annoying is what happened to me, I bumped into somebody they obviously knew me well and for the life of me I have not got a clue who they are.

lindosfan1, that has happened to me also. Long, long time ago I was in Hong Kong waiting for a bus to take me to the airport when someone walked to me and started talking to me in Finnish. Obviously he knew me but I still have no idea who he was.
