Air rage.

Post by Arcadian »

Well this was a new experience for me. Flying from Gatwick to Tunis on New Years Eve two passengers were late boarding, when they eventually arrived they made a big fuss as there was no overhead space for their carry-on luggage, they eventually put their duty-frees and hand baggage over where we were sitting, one of the women was abusive to Mrs.A who, had she not been strapped in, would probably chinned her, she then dropped a case onto my son-in law`s head. After being seated near the front there was more commotion and they were warned of their bad language and general abuse towards the staff. Then they started to drink their own duty frees which were confiscated, more abuse to staff. They tried to enter the flight deck to complain to the captain, then both were smoking in the toilets followed by more abuse. At that point the captain had had enough and thr flight was diverted to the nearest airport, Lyon, where the two women were escorted off in handcuffs by four burly gendarmerie. We were asked to provide witness statements for use in the courts. They told the head stewardess that they would find out where she lived and come and kill her family! We eventually arrived in Tunis two hours late.
I presume that they spent the night in a Lyon jail and January 1 being a bank holiday, with no courts working, a second night as well. Then they would have to buy extra tickets on to Tunis and then back to London.
It seems BA have a points system. 5 for each swear word, more for abuse to staff and 20+ points for smoking. 100 or more points means a lifetime ban from all BA flights.
All in all a memorable flight.

40 something British women. I forgot to mention they eventually turned up with wheelchair assistance! No jokes about being legless please.

UK is now Yob land :(

ALL airline customer databases have copious amounts of information about passengers and co-ordinate with police and immigration too.

Agreed Siani, just look at the story of that poor lad caught in crossfire on New Years Eve.
We were pleasantly surprised on our recent trip back to London at the politeness in the shops, restaurants, pubs and even immigration officials. Drivers are prepared to give way at junctions and generally behave in a civilized manner. However if you put yourself in positions where excessive drinking can cause problems, or areas of high crime, and read bad-news papers I suppose you could take a different view.

Travelers and flying crew deserve a safe and enjoyable flight. The airlines are absolutely correct in not tolerating any disruptive behaviour on board.

British Airways are considering banning the two drunken idiots from flying with them ever again.
In my opinion they should be banned from ALL airlines, and face a prison sentence with costs to the airline and passengers for the cost and inconvenience caused. They should also be named and shamed if and when proven guilty.

The only real issue that I have is that they were returned from France to the UK.

A jail sentence in Tunisia would be more fitting and provide a warning to other would-be idiots who think that it’s ok to act as they please on board an aircraft.

I agree they should be banned, it will make others think before getting paralytic drunk before boarding a plane.

I also agree, and reading all of the above it seems quite likely that they were indeed drunk when they boarded the plane. Which begs the obvious question of why they were allowed to do so...
This is the way

Ironically they had wheelchair assistance to get to the gate so maybe any unsteadiness in walking would have been put down to the poor old dears being crippled!
All tHis happened before drinks were served so I had to wait for my wine!!!

Poor old dears being crippled???? They were only 40 years and 50 years old! Crikey...makes me a real old geriatric! Don't need a wheelchair yet though :P Were they both wheeled on to the plane? How did they manage to go to the loo for a fag I wonder?
