Exactly DM, Suarez is just the media Pantomime villain.

Well it is the logical explanation (aka truth) Arcadian, or do you prefer the big bad Suarez insights crowd version?

I don't think most people give a shit in all honesty bar the media frothing at the mouth, everybody i've read/heard who is or was involved in the game has backed him, he actually walked off quite sheepishly and kissed his wrist where's normally he'd grab the ball and charge off doing his celebration.

It seems most people want to find offense with anything, they need to get a grip or go and read OK magazine.

Thick? It's a matter of seconds. He's a decent bloke and quite intelligent by all accounts, currently learning his 3rd language, he's also also a top sportsman and obviously he's got an edge to his game but most top players have.

I found this article quite balanced, though I don't know anything about its origins.

The biggest mystery to me, is how the officials missed it

Yeah, good article that, it deals in facts and not sensationalism.

As I said, it's Sky and the English gutter press that try and turn it into a soap opera.

Nobody would deny the goal shouldn't have stood.

They didn't, they deemed it to be unintentional.

If Suarez had done what some weirdos are suggesting he should have, gone and told the ref it hit his hand, the goal would still have stood.

I don't agree with that rule anyway, in your own box fine but not in the oppositions.

 . . . .:lach:

That's a ludicrous explanation & if it's true, the officials should be sacked for gross incompetence. :|

Most penalties/free kicks given for a handball are unintentional (& so are a lot of fouls!!) & most are nowhere near as blatant or as advantageous as that Suarez one.

He knew what he was doing, his arm went towards the ball ffs!.
Not saying he should have owned up, but he got away with it. :|

"There's no doubt it was handball but the referee and the officials ruled it wasn't deliberate," Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said. "I spoke to the fourth official when it was given because I couldn't see and he said it was (handball), so I can only assume they thought it wasn't deliberate."

We'd have no officials left mate.

I'm not convinced he meant it either, at first me and my brother looked at each other and thought "here we go again", looking again it's nothing.

The team I've called mine for more than 40 years and the team that I also like to follow very closely faced each other today. The result 2-3 was a great one as the match must have been as well. Wishing Brighton all the best and hopefully we'll see them in the premier league soon. Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch as I went to the annual beer festival here in Espoo. Anyway, looking forward to the fifth round. When is the draw for that?

The draw for the 5th round takes place immediately after the Oldham v Liverpool game today.
Brighton played very well, twice coming back from being a goal down.A shame to lose to a late goal as they deserved a replay.
Shame, too, that Macclesfield Towns cup run has come to an end, only losing to a penalty against Premiership Wigan and having a good penalty shout for themselves turned down.
But a great win for fellow Blue Square Premiership side,Luton, away to Premiership Norwich.Norwich are having a lean time of it,at the moment, and have been sucked into the Premiership relegation battle as well.
Manchester United.....well,you knew it would be comfortable against a team like Fulham who are quite easy to play against......maybe a case for including Chico in the starting eleven regularly alongside Van Persie ?

Sorry for Spurs in a way as they are the only London football team I sorta follow and support

Oldham are rocking the 'pools' boat too

For some reason I don't feel disappointed, in fact I feel relaxed about it which is unusual. Should give them a kick up the rear for the away game at Northwich :-)

I am disappointed, JG, not so much because we lost (we certainly didn't need a replay!), but because once again, and I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, we didn't put away enough of the chances we made.
