Full English Breakfast at Zab Wer...Soi 112

Post by sateeb »

Had by far the best full English b/fast here for the first time this morning. Bacon, fat boy sausage, tomatoes, beans, hash brown and black pudding complete with Toast, marmalade, jam and tea/coffee, all for around 145/150 baht, can't remember exact because I had some extra coffee and ice tea.

The place is run by an English guys wife and is on Soi 112 opposite the Dusita resort and near to the Floating market.

Excellent value IMHO

Is that the open place on the left that stands by itself?

Ok, I've driven past it a few times in the last couple of weeks and thought it looked worth a try so I'll give it a go on my next visit. Since I moved to Hin Lek Fai, Soi 112 makes a handy route through to areas to the south of town so I use it quite a bit.

Thank-you for the warning but if I'm up before 9 when I'm in Thailand, I haven't gone to bed yet!

I use soi 112 on my way to work so I'm up and down there a lot, and I've been meaning to pop into this place for a while.

On the strength of Sateeb's recommendation I popped in there for a late lunch today. The menu is divided into 3 - Isaan, Thai and European. The European is UK-centric, but all the better for that. Simple pub-style grub. Steak pies, bangers 'n mash, etc. Prices to match, generally around 150 baht for the Euro meals and 80 ish for the Thai dishes.

I went for the fish and chips at 180 baht. Fish cooked in batter, crinkle cut frozen chips - oh, and a nice little side salad and some peas (of the unmushy variety) if you need all those extra bits. Lemon wedge, tartare sauce, malt vinegar and ketchup to keep everyone happy.
The fish was of the "John Dory/catfish/whatever variety that isn't my favourite, but it was well cooked, and the batter was just about perfect.
Small Chang 60 baht.

A very nice lunch, and I'll definitely be back there again at some point.

Run by Noi (husband Paul, a Brit, is of course nothing to do with the business), very nice people, charming nephew as the waiter, speaking reasonable English - everyone had a very good attitude.

Nice spot with loads of space and a (young) kiddies play area. Lots of tables - with salas I guess they could seat around 70 people if they had to.
The road is of course in total chaos at the moment because of the widening, but don't let that stop you. This place is well worth a visit.

P.S. Big Boy - the tables and seats are fantastic, no plastic anywhere!
This is the way

Went there for lunch today with the missus and mom-in-law. We tried several of the Issan Thai dishes and the missus reckons she may have found her new favorite Issan restaurant (previously it was Seb Neur Kalisan which is closed at the moment for remodel).

Nice place with good Thai food at very reasonable prices. The European/Western menu had some interesting choices that I must try some time as well.

Noticed the Hua Hin Fishing Lodge Truck in the parking lot when we were leaving... :D
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Do you think Terry could leave it there for a bit, just to help us identify the place? :D

Guilty as charged 8)

Aunty Noi (the delightful owner and her husband - who's name is NOT Paul), have been customers of ours at the Lodge for several years.

Mrs.T and I just popped in for lunch today, before heading off for some shopping.

I can add that Zab Wah at km 6 on Soi 112 is a fine establishment - our truck may well be spotted there often
