pantanna guest house

hi folks

will be comming to hh the first week in january, thinking about the pantanna guest house, hope that is in a good location? and also hope that it is guest friendly, just in case, haha
The reason that i am comming there is finding out if i would like to relocate to this part of thialand, only heard good thing so far, but would like to come buy a few of you expats a beer or two, so i can pick your brains, find out about the property scene there, cost of living as doubt that i will be able to work, so any body want a beer email me.

It is South of the Fishing Pier and West of Kharoon Hut. No idea of the quality of the place though.

Have you taken a look at the Property Section yet?

Pattana is centrally located and guest friendly. Theres a little on it on the Accommodation Page

thanks for all the info, had a check around all the sutes suggested, seems there is no shortage of places to buy or rent, ( havent decided wich is the best option yet) in the hh area.

Also think that i will give the pattana guest house a try, ill book for a couple of nights anyway, i will be in the area for about 18-20 days so if i dont like it, or find somewhere better, i can move i guess. will january be busy in hh? will advance booking be required? dont know what sort time i will arrive in hh from bkk, going to take the train, easy to get a taxi from train station to guest house? is it far? do u tip the taxi? is the taxi metered? or try my negotiating skills, which means i will get ripped off again, hahaha.

Still no takers for a beer then? do you guys meet up anywhere or just communicate online?

Hi Stuuu I thought the train would be a good way to get there last year.....wrong....it is supposed to take about 4 hours I think, but it stops innumerable times, lets vendors run up and down the aisles ect, and took about 5 and a half hours. I also happened to catch a unseasonably cold day for the trip, and was not in first class, the windows and doors could not be closed properly, and I froze to death as my "heavier" clothing was not available to me in the coach. I am going to use the mini-bus from Victory Monument this time. will get lots of information on it. About 2.5 hours. 140 baht

Yes the service is still running.

You pick them up at Victory Monument, leaving the BTS station, keep to the left and go down the flight of stairs on the hospital side. The vans are all queued up down the road that runs in front of the hospital. They run every 30 minutes or so, just turn up and get on, no booking required. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for the return journey.

If the mini bus only takes 2.5 hours you can BOTH have a beer on me !! Also if it is full then leg room is limited and not very comfortable.

I have taken the coach from Southern bus station which is 128 Baht but takes over 4 hours.

I now take a taxi for around 2000 Baht at the airport which still takes at least 3 hours. If you are not going from the airport then you have the chance to haggle and should pay around 1500 Baht.

A taxi back will only cost 1500 Baht as you can haggle with the numerous drivers parked up in Hua Hin a couple of days before you return.

Done it twice on the minivan in two and a half hours, the driver did go like Schumacher though.
