Last weekend I was in New Zealand at the small village of Coromandel Town on the hilly Coromandel Peninsula 200 kms southwest of Auckland. The holiday village is isolated with a permanent population of 1500 people. Stopping in town for a bite we spotted this Thai place. My Thai girlfriend will always prefer to eat Thai so I could not drag her past the doors. The owner/chef (from Korat) prepared Thai meals but also farang meals to survive. She had been in New Zealand twenty years, herhusband had been trasnferred to the town so she opend the cafe. My friend said her food was OK but she seemed self taught. I then kept my eyes open as we drove through more towns and it seemed every reasonable size town had a Thai restaurant.
I curious to hear in what out of the way places people have found Thai restaurants/cafes around the world.
