Spirits

Post by TomTom55 »

Hey all. I have lived in HH for a little over three years now. I have randomly gotten the urge to make myself a few White Russians here and there. Where would be the best place to get some Khalula & Vodka? I have never seen Khalula being sold anywhere apart from wholesalers and in cocktails. The vodka is expensive in 7 at something like 900baht a bottle if I recall. That is just as expensive as it is in my home country if not more. If anybody knows some decent places please let me know with prices if you know them too. I know a wine store next to the night market close to soi88 but I have never been in there before. Anyway thanks in advance and regards

Kahlua is available just about everywhere, certainly at Lotus, Makro and Villa. About 950 bt a bottle I think. You can get Gilbey's vodka (and gin) for 300-350 a bottle from the same outlets. Perfectly good enough for cocktail mixes.

There is also a shop opposite All In Hua Hin that sells alcohol (including all of the above) and isn't constrained by silly time restrictions.

Villa also turns a blind eye to time restrictions.

Thanks guys, I know one 7 that doesn't care about time restrictions, across the railway tracks at the top of soi 88 there are the two 7s opposite each other (I have no idea why lol), but the one on the right sells alcohol all day long.

I will try Lotus as it is close and I have a club card ;) Have anybody of you tried white russians before? How do you like them, with milk or cream..?

I have not seen my mother in three years and she is coming here tomorrow for the first time, she has never visited Asia before so it is going to be quite a good experience.

I'm a Black Russian man myself, but we refer to this drink as a "Gloria" in honour of a fine Leeds lady who shall remain nameless.
Oops.

White Russian. My favourite cocktail. With milk. Kahlua can be bought at many places 900 - 1,000 for 0.7 liter. There is a copycat but I never tried it. Think it is about half the price of Kahlua. Some bars use it. Cannot remember the name. Same style bottle and label.

Tip: ask everyone you know who is going to Malaysia to bring back a tax free bottle of Kahlua. 55 Ringit (550 Baht) for 1.0 liter.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

Not sure how the price compares (probably about the same), but you can use Tia Maria instead of Kahlua.

They won't sell you grog between 2 and 5pm.
Better and cheaper Villa Market!
