Hello, :)

I have received instructions which I find hard to follow. :?

Can anyone, please, translate this computer goobledygook step by step.

MB

Please follow these steps:
1. Open regedit (Start -> Run -> "regedit" -> Enter)
2.
- For 32 bit, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\HotspotShield
- For 64 bit, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\HotspotShield
3. Rename the key (folder) to anything else (e.g. rename "HotspotShield" to "HotspotShield1")
4. Run the Hotspot Shield Installer again.

Major,
Click on 'Start' then 'Run'.
Alternatively press the 'Windows' button + 'r' on your keyboard - usually in between 'Ctrl' & 'Alt'.
This will open the Run prompt.

Type 'regedit' followed by clicking ok.
This will run the 'Registry Editor' application.

Press 'Ctrl + F'.
Copy and paste in either:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall'
or
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall'
you should only find the 32bit or 64bit tree so ignore the one you don't find.

The rest should be obvious.
Good luck,
GN.

GinjNinja, :D

thanks for your reply! :)

Well, "the rest is obvious"?

I got as far as pasting and searching the registry,

BUT it cannot find the key/folder! :?

What now?

Try searching for 'hotspotshield'...

'Ctrl + F' for finding files.

http://java.com/en/download/faq/jucheck.xml

The jucheck.exe is the Java update verification process. This process will check on the internet for available updates for the Java software installed on your computer. If updates are available, it will notify you and/or manage the download and install of the updates

Hello, :)

in case you fear you will run out of work, :(
dont worry, I shall keep you occupied.

It seems I have unwittingly managed to change the settings of my keyboard
so that now some symbols no longer correspond to what I actually type.

I have a dual-language keyboard - US English and Thai.
In a moment of madness I deleted the Thai language setting.

I want to restore the keyboard to its original state, but I can only choose
between UK English and German.

There are no other languages to choose from.

Please, help me to restore my keyboard settings.

Thanks!

Kind regards, :)

Go into your Control Panel. The options you probably need will be under 'Clock, Language and Region' followed by 'Region and Language'.

Ha,

I seem to be gradually getting the hang of it! :D

I found the Thai language "bar" by clicking on "add" and managed to restore my keyboard! :D

Thanks for your welcome advice anyway! :thumb:

Except ...

Now I keep on getting these unwelcome Suggested Sites in my FAVORITES bar.

How can I get rid of these?

I have tried to right-click. But after 'deleting' they keep on appearing again. :banghead:

Thanks!

Major,
can you open the run command as explained earlier and type - 'msconfig'.

This will launch the System Configuration Utility.
Click on the 'Startup' tab and check what programs you have running on your laptop at system startup (Windows startup service).

Where are you in Hua Hin?

Major

Why not seek a computer health check with a guru who will sort it and explain it to you. There is one who is frequently displayed on the forum. Admin and the mods will know
