So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.

I agree BB, but I envy the fact that you were free to leave. As you know, I was stuck there, and like you, the commentators were doing my bloody head in. Hell they love the sound of their own voices. It wouldn't have been too bad if they actually let the kids do something, but instead they just walked out and then straight back in.

I'm also not sure I really approve because some of the kids were clearly very distressed, with one even ending up in tears more than once. Another was so nervous she could barely breath. I think it's okay if a child can clearly handle that sort of thing, but surely their teachers should be able to judge. Our second eldest one that was there yesterday thinks nothing of it. In fact, she would have preferred several thousand spectators. Boy, I wish I had the confidence she has......lol.

All in all though, not much entertainment at all. Then again, at least the commentators and the mayor enjoyed themselves.

In all fairness Richard, you're more than likely referring to crackling made in an oven, which of course most Thais don't have. Like you say though, at least we aren't being forced to eat horse meat. Maybe it's time to redefine the term "third world country"........... :laugh:Hell, I didn't even eat horse meat in Africa. For the time being, I'll stick to Thai and American food.

Alternatively........Sunday horse meat roast, complete with homemade Yorkshire pudding. :neener:

Well I achieved it in Africa and achieved it in Isaan over a brai  (barbecue). Just score the back of the pig with a very sharp knife, pour cooking oil over it and smother in rock salt :munch: :munch:

Well, we had a great night - usual Armageddon in Chongqing with regards to fireworks, but I shan't post vids as BB seems averse to it.

Made it through the night, great company, great friends, great family, great food....... and alcohol - picture perfect for a great night! A night I will miss when I return to the UK...

Happy Chinese New Year to all!!
