Changing date of Non Imm "O" visa

Post by Don East Stand »

Hi,

I've been staying in Hua Hin for just over 5 years on a Non Imm "O" Visa i.e retirement. Every year I have to apply for an extension before the 26th June.

Now here's the problem, we would like to spend a bit of the summer back in Scotland. As I understand it, Summer in Scotland this year is from the 25th June until the 27th June   So my visa extension would be due slap bang in the middle of our summer holiday.

I know that we can apply for our visa extension upto four weeks early, as we managed to do that last year, however is there anyway, apart from starting all over again, to change the renewal date?

I would quite happily pay again halfway through our extension, if it meant we could change the date to November or December, if possible.

Any thoughts or ideas, would as always be greatly appreciated

It's always worth going and having a word with Imm but strictly speaking you need to be in that "30 days before" window.
The alternative is get another O visa when back home and extend after returning to Thailand as you've said. Other than the cost of the visa, there's no real difference doing it this way. The only thing you always have to watch out for is if the income/savings requirements are increased whilst you're away as if you don't extend on time you'll be having to meet the higher amount later on. Those extending on time are grandfathered at the amount they had to meet at first extension.
The chances of this happening are slim, however...
