Taking goods back to shops

Post by richard »

Anybody know what Tesco's attitude is regarding taking goods back?

I'm talking about a pair of new shorts purchased today that were too small. Still have the labels and receipt.

I know Villa market are exceptionally good on taking back food that doesn't live up to it's sell by date, but that's food

Tesco's are the best at getting a refund. No questions asked, just a receipt and you'll get your money back. We did it with a phone.

Careful, VS - I think that, like many other things in LOS, what applies in one Tesco Lotus will not necessarily apply everywhere. We bought a duff TV in Pranburi, and although we were eventually able to negotiate an exchange, we had to jump through a number of hoops and make a fuss for a couple of weeks first.
We could, of course, have used the guarantee and sent it off for repair, but then we would have been without a TV for at least 3 months...

Hopefully for things like clothes it will be more straightforward.

OK, DM, maybe if it's an electrical item and goes wrong more than a week later, it's not such an easy process. They do (or did) have a sign in their stores that said if you're not happy with what you've bought, you can get a refund with no questions asked. This only applies if you go back within a week, which is what happened with our mobile phone.

Happy hols, mate.

As a side note, we've talked on here many times about Farang sizes vs Thai sizes and never the twain shall meet. Unless you're lucky enough to find a shop that sells exclusively to Farangs and stocks their merchandise in Farang sizes only, you'll always get tripped up.

A Thai L is a Farang M or less concerning shirts. A 38" waist Thai is about a 35-36" Farang. It's really enough to drive you mad. Can't be in a rush with clothing....try everything on and be prepared to spend an hour for what should be a 10 minute exercise. :( Pete

Measuring what part of the shorts round your neck?
I can put both hands completely round my neck but not round my waist, and won't I get some odd looks putting shorts over my head in Tesco ?

I don't see quite how that works, are you saying that your collar size is half of your waist size?

Thais do it all the time. My neck measurement (16.5) is exactly half my waist measurement (33).

Waist measurement. Does that include your gut or is it the measurement of your hips circumference allowing a gut drop over?

We seem to be way off topic  but I'm enjoying it

Sounds painful - you'll end up with a stiff neck :lach:
