Searching for rental apartment

Post by peteS333 »

Hi, i'm a new member. and need some guidence. I'm a male retiree from Australia and have just spent a week in HH. Naturally I was very impressed with the lifestyle in HH. I am intending to come back to HH for a medium length stay in a rented cottage/apartment for say 3 to six months for a trial. I want to be close to the middle of town in walking distance to bars and restaurants. My question is which part of town should I seek to rent, for convenience and security? My budget is 70,000 baht/month.

Hi peteS, welcome to the forum. First question before people can give advice, is the 70,000 per month your budget for just housing, or your total budget? Pete

And will you be on your own, how many bedrooms do you need, any preference over a house or apartment?

At least 3 bedrooms and that budget is rent alone. No preference for apartment or house but a private pool villa would be ideal.

For 70k a month I imagine you can have as many bedrooms as you want!

I'd normally advise someone to spend a week in a hotel and have a look round for a bargain, but at that price range and for a comparatively short term rental, you might as well try the forum's property site and the property sponsors on the right, and google HH rental agencies.
This is the way

Thanks for your advice. I've looked at several property websites and they show a bewildering array of properties in lots of different localities. My question regards which locality would best serve.

Thanks and regards.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. You've already said you want to be within walking distance of Bintabaht, so that just about covers it. If you want to know exactly where the addresses of the available properties are, the forum has an excellent map - see the link at the bottom of the page.

As concerns security and convenience, the best thing is to find some places that appeal to you and then ask for opinions about a specific soi or development rather than for general recommendations, since we all have different needs and expectations.

Happy hunting!

Although you could find properties at 70,000 it will be much easier to find a really nice place for <50k a month complete with pool, especially if you want to be close to town. As others have suggested, you are looking at a fairly small radius (1-2 km's max), so find somewhere that takes your fancy and then ask the appropriate questions. You shouldn't find it too difficult to find what you are looking for.

 Yes, I agree. For that type of budget, you won't have any difficulty finding a suitable place.
