Great result for the Spuds, well done !
An excellent result for Newcastle, also, gaining a 0-0 draw away against a strong side.
Chelski should be OK.I suspect they had their minds on other things, such as coming up against the might of Howard Webb at Old Trafford this Sunday ! :guns:

Spurs were great.

Chelsea shockingly bad. Tactics, what tactics? Its just so difficult to understand what Benitez is seeking to achieve and whatever it is, he is unable to communicate that to the players. On saying that, we should go through, but I am dreading Sunday - the backlash from Uniteds game, the rest they have had, which we haven't, but above all, fearing what Benitez will do!

Come next Thursday, we could be out of both cups and then it will be bye-bye Rafa!

I see it's all Benitez fault and not your under performing players, unbalanced squad and semi retarded (but very rich) chairman, excluding yourself, them lot who are currently turning up at Stamford Bridge deserve everything they get.

Embarrassing, made a proper show of yourselves, booing Managers and players.

Nice to see you back Baa Baa, but its his tactics and team selections. We all know it wasn't perfect when he joined and as I have said before, he 'steadied the ship', but we've hardly kicked on, in fact we've got worse. I just don't think he is suited, I never did and it shows.

I hope he proves me wrong on Sunday and I'm sure the Manc fans will give him a warm welcome!

All the English teams got through to the last 8.....just about !
Newcastle 1 Anzhi 0.....Cisse the hero with the last kick of the game.
Chelsea 3 Steau Bucharesti 1.....Torres the hero with his 2nd goal in 20 games.
Inter Milan 4 Spuds 1.....Adebayor the hero  as the Spuds go through on away goals.

I hope we can keep the momentum going, but I wouldn't have been too upset if were KO'd last night, especially as we have to travel half way to Asia to play Rubin Kazan (who?) just 3-days before we play the spuds in the league, whilst they have a quick jaunt to Switzerland!

Chelsea v Rubin Kazan

Spuds v Basel

Fenerbahce v Lazio.

Benfica v Newcastle

And thee 1st leg buggers up my trip to the Bridge v Sunderland, which will probably now be moved to the Sunday!

Excellent news. We played Ruben Ayala a few years ago so not an unfamiliar team, think they 're usualful. Did they unfairly come out of the cL? :D :D

Actually, from the Chelsea website, it appears that Kazen have played all their euro matches in Moscow so far but now want to revert to their home ground. Eufa are to conduct an inspection to make sure its fit for purpose - I wonder how much the backhanders will cost?

I've always hated penalty shoot-outs. Complete waste of time.

Let's now concentrate on staying in the top four - no penalty shoot-outs there..................

Looking at the last 4.....Benfica,Chelsea,FC Basel,Fenerbache.....I would think Chelsea have a good chance of winning the Europa League ?
Anyway back to real football and the Premiership for the next few days.....Arsenal v Norwich,Arsenal v Everton,Fulham v Chelsea.....crucial matches at this stage of the season.
