Thai Cushions

Post by MLS »

Hi, I'm looking to buy a couple of traditional BIG Thai triangle fold-up cushion/lounger type things (don't know the name for them) in Hua Hin but can't remember seeing any. If anyone has spotted them could you let me know where? Thanks!

I think I saw them on Dechanuchit Road, if you head from the night market towards the fishing piers, there are a few Thai craft type shops down there, can't remember if on the left or right hand side.

They also sell them at some of the shops on the opposite side of the clock tower.

Years ago now, in Chaing Mai, my good-lady & I were waiting patiently in the queue at the Post Office there.
The English couple in front were attempting to box-up 1 of these cushions to send back home...well it would'nt fit in the box as planned, tempers flared between Mr & Mrs Tourist..in the end the two were shouting & swearing at each other, & it all came to an end when they both stormed out of the P.O. & stomped off down the road..still verbally attacking each other!
My dear lady stepped forward, told the man behind the counter that we'd take care of the cushion for the couple..I nodded, we paid for the (unused) postage box & walked out with a nice (almost free)
Thai cushion.. Sorry, just thought I'd share my 'cushion tale'.

Correct, but if you want to spend that much, then rather two or three elsewhere for the same price. Not sure how much the charge in MV to be honest, but you can usually get them for around 500 to 700 baht for the full length one.

Go along the railway road heading south. When you get to the end of the concrete road where you either go left down past Big Kiang to Petch Road or right over the tracks, there is a shop on the left that makes them to order. It must be about the second or third last shop.
