QUIZ at JWs
Re: QUIZ at JWs
The above sounds like an apology DM. Don't put yourself down - I'm sure people still appreciate the hard work that goes into preparing a quiz. OK, if you made a mistake, it was the same mistake for everybody. It's usually a good ice breaker, and stimulates a bit of healthy crowd interaction.
Apart from the cudos of winning, these quizzes are for fun IMHO. My son tells me he enjoyed it, so mission accomplished. Well done!!
As an aside, he also rated the food quite highly, even saying the roasters were almost as good as his mum's, which is quite a compliment.

Re: QUIZ at JWs
DM - don't beat yourself up, being a quizmaster can often be a thankless task. I don't think people have any idea how much time and commitment is involved, before and during the event.
I did it myself some years ago, it used to take ages to put the questions together, trying to make sure they were varied in subject and level of difficulty.
Alas, there were always a bunch of hecklers ready to argue the toss, comes with the territory. I think I became a bit immune to it and the pub manager used to beat them all off with a stick. It was great fun but a lot of work.
Pat yourself on the back mate, sounds like you did a good job!

Re: QUIZ at JWs
D-M, I thought you did a fine job, not least of all because Steve is a pretty hard act to follow!
The questions were very broad and not as Anglocentric as they have been on some other occasions.
I agree there was a bit of ribbing but I felt it was all in good fun.
I think we can all appreciate the hard work that went into preparing it and, knowing you as I do, you obviously did a lot of research and went into great detail to make it different, introducing new categories, etc.
So I think you deserve a big hand
From a selfish point of view, however, I'm also delighted to hear that you don't want to do it regularly so that we can welcome you back into the team

I'll be there with my son, but we'll be a couple of nomads looking to make up a larger team as 2 of our team members will still be in the UK.

Sorry to say that 'The Fish' as sir JW calls me, will have to bow out for the foreseeable future. I've just signed an assignment that sees me working in Bangkok from Monday to Friday for the next year.
So BB & John - why not join up with Phil, Kevin, Ken & 'The Boat' - quite a line up...

As much as we'd like to become football hooligans for the night, and who knows, having a Lady GaGa expert might improve your chances of winning, I'm afraid that would be cheating. In the early days when it was in it's infancy teams seemed to vary between 4 and 6 if I remember rightly

Sorry to hear the Fish has jumped ship for the big smoke. Maybe just a bit of bait to get someone else on board.
So, come on me hearties, anyone want to join the crew!?

JJB will be around for the quiz this time with our secret weapon; my 13 year old daughter. What she doesn't know about useless pop trivia isn't worth knowing. No, seriously, it really isn't worth knowing!
If there's a spare 'two' knocking about, let us know and we'd love to team-up, especially since we missed the December one due to over-crowding.
