3BB premier package- tv shows

Post by stevieboy »

I went to 3bb to discuss their services and products and the woman was trying to explain to me that they a premier service for some sort of tv shows from USA etc.
Does anyone have that or know what that means? Sounds like you can get tv shows over the internet by paying more?
Does this mean that I wouldnt have to subscribe to a cable tv company like true for overseas shows like HBO, CNN, bloomberg, etc?
Thanks in advance for your responses.

The Premier plans have a lower contention ratio (google search has some good explanations) and, I believe, a higher priority to overseas bandwidth. They offer no free entertainment packages like HBO, CNN, Bloomberg, etc., simply a supposedly faster speed via which to download them.

There have been anecdotal reports that the Premier lines really don't offer so much advantage these days. I had a 3Mbps Premier line several years ago, and at the time it actually did seem faster than a comparable 3Mbps non-Premier line. These days, though, when you can get a 13Mbps ADSL line from 3BB for B900/month, the premium price paid for a Premier line is perhaps not such a good value.

If it's available in your area, I'd suggest looking into True Cable (DOCSIS) internet service. I have a 15Mbps/1.5Mbps plan for B900/month with a free cable TV package of basic channels for free. While I was satisfied with my previous 3BB 13Mbps/1Mbps plan for the same price, the True Cable throughput is actually often HIGHER than the advertised 15Mbps download speed.

FYI & FWIW, here's a speedtest.net result I got just now (300pm on a Friday):

Im impressed by the True stats.

Thing is is the service stable?

In respect of the OP I would also advise considering a shift to True.

I was a unhappy customer of that incompetent shower of b@stards and hairdresser's models called 3BB for 5 years (you get less for murder nowadays). They are a pack of retarded baboons, their service is a rip off the farang stupidity taxation scam, and I would rather have a week long root canal done than go back (once I return to the land of beer and sun). The only reason I would ever go back in their shop is to say hello with a can of petrol, a box of matches, and a bag of marshmallows.

That said, if it is watching programs you want, then consider this:

When True did the shut down on the local hooky sat provider I had no TV service. So I reverted to using streaming media sources like http://viooz.eu/ and http://www.1channel.ch/ to get my TV and film watching. You do NOT need an all singing all dancing 15MB line to watch streaming media - a 4MB line that is stable is perfectly sufficient to watch stuff live time stylee or download rapidly enough so as not to worry. and unlike the TV service you pay for, there are no channels full of cack you never watch, or endless fecking reality TV shows - its purely what you want when you control the selection.

There is another advantage to this route as well - no fecking censoring. So you can get Spartacus with all the swearing, shagging and splatter, and there is no blurry cack superimposed on films when someone lights a fag or waves a knife.

Plumb your PC into your TV, and stick with YouTube and streaming media sources.

Streaming from those sites may be ok, but I don't have a laptop so I can't connect a computer to the TV which is in a separate room from my desktop, but I used to download missed broadcast show episodes to a USB drive and then plug that into my TV for viewing. That method seems to be much more difficult now.

TrueVisions, in it's infinite wisdom, dropped one of the best American sitcom and drama channels (StarWorld) they had on April 1, in favor of a lifestyle channel that has wall to wall garbage about weight loss, exercise, hair styling, interior design, etc. They terminated it in the mid season of several shows we were watching and I've tried to download the remaining episodes but can't because of that copyright law they passed in the U.S. last year. All the sites I used to use to direct download TV episodes are either shut, or the selected download says removed or not allowed due to copyright infringement.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

We recently moved north, so we now deal with the Cha-am office. Mrs D-M says the difference in attitude is remarkable.

I now use both those sites (thanks, SM :thumb: ) and they are a goldmine. My HSP (see above) is still going strong and he recently upgraded us. That gives us all the Thai crap Mrs D-M needs on what's left of True, (almost) all the sport I need on Astro, and now Vietnam TV  with an interesting package (that I haven't explored yet because there's only so much TV you can watch!).

And I'm still pondering whether to sign up for Expat TV.
This is the way
