problem with water pump

Post by fabman »

hi guys , can anyone recommend someone to fix the water pump in my home ?

the pump itself is working OK , but its leaking quite a lot of water around the seals

have tried to put a sealer around it without taking the pump right a part but this hasn't cured it :-(

some of the bolts are a bit corroded

i am wondering if it can be fixed without buying a new one ? a new pump is going to cost around 6 thousand baht including installation

not sure if i need a plumber or electrician ?

cheers

Best price you will get is probably at Big Kiang. Purchase there and could possibly have it up and running same or for sure next day.

If yours needs repair, who knows how long it might take from what you say the condition of it is.

Quite right. Big Kiang will fit same day if you order before lunchtime.

Never had a problem with them and very easy to deal with.
If it aint broke, don't fix it...

I have what may seem a daft question to all you engineering types out there.

The water pressure to our house is acceptable but not very satisfying. I'd like my shower to be more like a tropical downpour than a gentle English sprinkle and my bum-flushers to have a greater cling-on clearing capacity.

So, simple question: the pump is a Mitsubishi WP-155N. If I replace it with a more powerful pump, will I get a significant increase in my water pressure?

If so, any recommendations as to what I should look for will be most welcome.
This is the way

On the run at the moment but an opening thought is to make sure your shower head and bum cleaner don't have a flow restricter in them. Unscrew the head from the handle and look for a small white plastic plug that allows water through, but restricts the flow. If you find one, throw it away and see how your pressure is then. Pete

PS: Every shower head I've ever purchased here had them regardless if local made or import.

DM
depending on how old the pump is and whether or not you have to pump up another floor, what was it working like before this post? If it a recent development, the pressure switch could be on the blink. It looks like a small grey canister screwed into the main tank body and will have a seperate set of wires that are also attached to the pump.
The other problem could be a lot of gunk accumulated in the unit and tank itself; seen the brother-in-law strip one and clean it out; worked a lot stronger after that.

If pump is over five years old I'd probably be looking at just replacement.
