To questions I didn't ask. That's a non-answer answer.

One would have to be as ignorant as a box of rocks not to know that, which is why it wasn't in the original question.

When I graduated from the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Leicester, in 1994, all those who earned a degree in Medicine (M.B., Ch.B.) to practice as doctors had to swear the Oath of Geneva. I believe this replaced the Hippocratic Oath in the middle of the last century, although the basic concept is similar, which makes Dr Mike's answer totally correct, albeit incomplete from the questioner's perspective. It is also referred to as the 'Physicians Oath' and is apparently quite a big deal for the WHO.

Dr. Michael,
I have been running a low grade fever (99F) for one week, mostly it is worst in the evening. Some minor body aches, etc. I have been taking Ibuprofen to counter the symptoms. I played golf regularly prior to this but I stayed hydrated. It feels like the "Flu" but rest is not helping. Should I get some blood work done, if so for what? I don't remember any mosquito bites. The locals say it is change of weather and every one has this. Any suggestions please?
Thanks

Sounds as though it could be Dengue although normally you feel really lethargic as well as heavy body ache and flu-like symptoms. Hopefully Dr Mike will respond but worth getting it checked out, even though I don't think they can offer any specific treatment?

I thought Dengue was more associated with High Grade fever.

Why on earth would you suggest it is Dengue Fever, read up about it, Dengue fever also known as breakbone fever, is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. Where did the poster state he had a rash.

Leave diagnosis up to professionals, if the OP is unwell go to a good doctor and listen to the doctor alone.

I don't know why you are getting so upset about my "diagnosis". I said it could be dengue although that would normally involve more body ache and strong flu like symptoms. The op mentioned about mosquito bites (it is quite possible not to have been aware of being bitten). I ended by suggesting that hopefully Dr Mike would respond (so far he hasn't) but that further investigation (by the professionals) might be a good idea - better to be safe than sorry!!

"Fevers" of 99 (37.3) are of no consequence, your 'flu' like symptoms are. This is almost always caused by a viruse, most of which are self resolving. I think the advice of fluids, rest and 'wait and see' is appropriate. If however it goes on for a wek you may want to see a doctor. Dengue as another poster has said is unlikely, but there are mild attacks of everything--the body's immune system after all is much more effective than anything Drs can do.
Sorry for the delay, I have a short time consulting job in Shanghai (74 and cant adjust to retirement) and only check HHF occasionally.

Basically because you could put the S.h.i.t.s up someone by even suggesting that. Same happened to my wife a few weeks back with one of her friends "diagnosing" her and saying she had a serious infection when it was just an insect bite, a bad one but still only a bite but the friend had my wife in tears.

Of course the OP should take advice from people like Dr Mike or other professionals and should steer clear of others giving "diagnosis" when they have no idea what they are talking about., and I include myself in that group as I am not qualified to diagnose another health issues.
