Soi 88 to Soi 94 Railway Crossing Road.

Post by Big Boy »

I've just driven across Soi 88 crossing, and see that the dirt track from Soi 88 Railway crossing going towards Soi 94 (past the back of Tesco) has been tarmac'd. I've no idea if it goes the whole way, but good news if it does :D

I've noticed more and more motorcycles coming in to MV via the rear road recently so there must be access of some sorts

It's obviousy a fantastic piece of Thai engineering - I was on the dirt track Friday evening buying chicken for the dogs. It was still a dirt track then.

Good news for vehicles and residents. No more need to throw water on to the dirt track, causing pot-holes.

They scrapped off the top few centimeters of top soil (actually just pushed it off to the side) and then laid the asphalt on top of that. I doubt the new road bed was compacted and the new asphalt has not been sealed.

Yeah baby, this is one road that will last forever.

I'm a bit of a sporting man and I would bet that as soon as we get the next good rain and a couple of good sized trucks down the track you will be able to pick up your own piece road for a paper weight within a week.

centermid7..you've just hit the nail on-the-head..Now there's a good surface those damn 6-wheelers will use it..result?..f****d in a very short time.(T.i.T.)
On a plus side, does this mean that MV-management have now woken-up to the fact that many people (including myself) refuse to go there 'cos it's such a pain to get in, park, & get out again.. & are finally gonna let folk use the car-park/entrance at the rear permanantly..?? Hope so...??

tarmacking that road will only make the traffic faster and thus the Soi 94 rail crossing more dangerous as those going to Petchkasem Road will always take advantage of the free left turn so not only will we all have to look for trains but also for cars and motor bikes pulling out without looking! Mind you a rear access to MV would be most useful; I wonder if they contributed to the road upgrade?

What else does it provide rear access to? I heard it was a privately owned road and expensive to purchase and that MV had wanted access from there

MV have had access from there ever since I've lived here. There's a couple of Ma & Pa shops, but nothing else of note.

The fence between the road and the railway only went up not long ago and the track was used as a bike entrance to MV for a long time. Being narrow I can only agree with others that putting a surface down will only make it more hazardous as it will encourage those wanting a shortcut around the congestion on Phetkasem particularly at the weekend. It does sound like a half hearted attempt so (hopefully) will revert back to being unsuitable for cars with a bit of local abuse and mother nature doing her stuff. Or could this be the start of the four lane section south of the station to eventually hook up with Kanklong superhighway that has had so much work done on it lately.....
