well thanks to the even wonderful Joolz Holland program Im currently tapping my feet to the Malian folky rock sounds of ROKIA TRAORE and her new album Beautiful Africa

as well as the usual world music stuff on there theres some rocky bluesy stuff as well

here are a couple from her..... reminds me of happy days on the truck razzing through Namibia

A mate came over last night and we had a bit of a smoke

in the garden and got to talking about covers of great songs. I chose the following triplet + one

Love her voice - reminds me of Marlene Dietrich

and I have a soft spot for this - cant help it... its got The Trailer Park Boys in it!
The Big Dirty Band - I Fought The Law

(The Clash version is still the best though)

and this got a fave mention
The Tourists - I Only Wanna Be With You

and despite the sun and a smoke.....somehow this seems very very appropriate
