PVC Union

Post by Ratsima »

I'm looking for a real ½" PVC Union. I need an actual union, not the compression fittings that the Thais label as being a union. I have diligently searched all over Korat (Home Pro, Home Mart and lots of local hardware stores) and have experienced nothing but puzzlement.

I will be in Hua Hin soon. Can anyone verify that these are available somewhere in the area?

I need this:

The problem with the compression fittings is that my water pump produces more pressure than they can handle. They tend to fly apart with spectacular results.

The real unions, which I bought in the US, perform perfectly.

I looked everywhere for them here (admittedly a few years ago) and could not find them. I finally got them at a pond/aquarium/fountain parts shop in Bangkok near Chatuchak Market.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

^Thanks. Pass that area now and then.

I wonder why Thai plumbers don't seem to use them?

BTW, the ones I brought from the US didn't fit. Thai PVC seems to have an OD slightly larger than the US stuff. Had to file down the Thai pipe!

The dipsh---s at Thai Watsadu MAY have them.

If you are coming through Bangkok then the following place is where I get them. Made in Thailand so fit the PVC pipe. One shop is right opposite the Elephant Building on Paholyothin Road, where I go. Have not been to the the main shop, so better call them first. They will post stuff to you, and pay by ATM.

There are actually several of that type of shop in a row on the same street. It's within easy walking distance west of the Kampaeng Phet MRT station.
