Taking delivery. With papers already signed - they couldnt be bothered to do even a good walk through of the vehicle with my wife. About 5 minutes of talking by the car. A few minutes to meet the counter girl for parts and service scheduling...
Thanks for this feedback 5yearexpat, it's really helpful to know. I was unable to get the current model Everest in manual, as they said it is now completely out of stock. My work colleague in Bangkok also checked with them and confirmed likewise. I was disappointed, because I want a manual model.

Time has passed since I looked at the Everest and so today I decided to go and take a look at the manual-box Ranger in open-cab version. I tested it and liked it. It's a nice drive. And it's sufficient for my needs.

However, I noticed that of the test vehicles they had, there were minor faults. On one vehicle the seatbelt warning system had been deactivated. I personally felt that was a bad sign, to do that. Is the bleeper so annoying that they have to do they so that prospective customers don't find it off-putting?

The other thing was that the handbrake warning lamp was permanently on. This was a vehicle with just a few KM on the clock.

The worse part for me, is that I hate the limited and uninspiring colours of Thai-manufactured vehicles. They're all dreary colours... black, white, silver etc. The only vehicles that Ford Phetchburi has in stock are white, black, grey and silver.

I asked them how long they would take to order my requested "Gunmetal Blue" and they said three months, but that they would need to check with Ford's head office on Tuesday after the holiday period. However, shortly after that, it seems like they decided that special order was too much trouble, and walked back over to me to say that they'd checked and that Ford did not have stock of Gunmetal Blue. So, basically, if Ford's head office is closed at the weekends, how was she able to check?

I guess it was just a lie.

I'm naturally quite ****d off with them, for their lack of willingness to help. I feel that Thai brochures show a range of products and colours and this is an offer to customers to choose what they want. The staff are often lazy and don't want to be bothered.

I also found this at Honda yesterday in Hua Hin. I told the girl there I wanted a manual car - preferably a Civic. She tried her best to talk me out of it. I was quite taken aback that sales staff have not been professionally trained to listen to customers' needs. Well, I can believe it, because it's Thailand.

So, I'm still car-less. I feel that the only company I ever enjoyed dealing with is Toyota, but they're vehicles bore the pants off me, including the Camry that I had before. They drive like cr*p, unfortunately, but the service is good!

Never mind. ha ha
