Hi All,
I'm interested in buying about 100 coconut seedlings the tall variety to plant along my fence line. Can anyone provide me with the local prices and a good shop to buy them from with knowledgeable staff.
Thanks
Coconuts seedlings where to buy and prices?
Re: Coconuts seedlings where to buy and prices?
If you had only wanted two or three I could probably have helped but for the number you're looking for, I would suggest heading a bit south of Hua-Hin until you start seeing coconut plantations and then ask around.
Actually, seedlings sounds a bit strange since they grow from the fallen coconuts, so they're quite large to begin with.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

A word of caution it not unheard of people being killed by falling coconuts one hundred coconut palms in your garden would increase the risk greatly we had three in our garden in Prasat and I have had one near miss.
About three years ago my wife was told that the biggest one more than 10 metres high had been struck by lightening and the top was all burnt, a few months later we made our annual trip to Thailand on arriving at our house the tree had fallen over and was resting against our wall nobody bothered to tell us so the next day I paid a young lad to come around and fell it properly.
In my opinion if the coconut palm had of fallen the other way onto the house I would have had damage to the roof tiles.
Maybe a good thing to do would be to ask a Thai that has much more experience with coconut trees just my little bit of input and just food for thought.
Kendo.

On my last visit to Koh Tao I recall having the conversation with my friends of the statistics of coconut falling fatalities... apparently you are more likely to meet your maker by coconut than by being struck by lightening. The next day we were sitting at a bar by the beach and we heard a very loud but dull thud on the sand. A massive coconut had fallen between two guys sunbathing on the beach. They both turned, looked at the coconut, then at each other and then lay back down to resume their sun tanning. Nuts!

Thanks for the input I understand the risk however we have 5 rai and the tall coconuts will be around the fence line only.

Go and ask "Tor". His place is on Petchkasem Rd on the corner of Soi 29. He speaks good English, if he does not have what you need he will get them in.HHCanuck wrote:Hi All,
