CTH V 365 SPORT

Post by fabman »

Just been watching the premier league on both formats and decided to give my view on both ...

CTV , i brought a CTV box this week with main perpose of watching the footie , i settled down to the first match , liverpool v stoke , immediate dissapointment that there is abosoloutley no english commentry on any of the matches ( maybe they take there lead from hua hin cinema  ) :banghead: there is no option to change the language on the remote either ..it just dosent feel the same when your watching at home and u cant understand the commentary , u can barley hear the croud as well ! i am not sure if the ststem is the same if you have it via sattelite dish ? :? good picture though and i think maybe they show more games than 365 , i even tried to find some english commentary on the radio without any luck or the timing was all off ..CTH box is pretty basic as well , there is no record function , not that many decent other channels as well and its not that simple to switch between HD channels back to normal channels , the price is much cheaper than true was though , i am on the monthly package and its just over 900 a month

365 sport , is cheaper at 600 a month , but the picture isnt as good ( i was running it through my laptop to the tv ) its acceptable though . all english commentary and analysis wich is good and u can pause it and go back as well i think , so if you miss the game u can watch it up to 3 days later , obviously u only get sport channels as well and i dont think they are showing as many games , although they are saying they will be showing FA cup , champions league and some europa league games ..

so there you go , its certainly not an ideal set up on any device , but it could be worse

which one to go for ... i think i will be trying to get my money back for the CTH box and just stick with the 300 baht basic cable channels and go for the 365 sport

any other suggestions would be great ! :duck:

I've got the 365 Sport Package, and have the choice of viewing through my laptop (connected via HDMI to my TV) or through my Android Box. Unfortunately, because the software is not due to be updated for another few weeks, my Android Box is still affected by the 3BB packet data problems.

I watched both the Liverpool and Man Utd matches and tried using the Android Box. The Liverpool game was fine apart from a couple of minutes in the first half where it froze. The Man Utd game froze a few minutes before the first goal. Fortunately, I switched to the laptop just as the first goal was scored. I stayed with the laptop then until the match ended. So, using the Android Box was a bit of a disaster, it was fortunate that I had the laptop as a backup.

Picture quality was fine for me, but I've never had the benefit of CTH. I guess it's a case of not missing what I've never had.

In conclusion, I'm perfectly happy with the 365 Sport package, and I've been assured that the Android problems will be resolved shortly.

Also tried them both out yesterday.

Got the CTH satellite system (no cable service where we live in Paknampran). Installation went very smoothly. Once I threw out their AV cables and replace them with HDMI, the picture quality improved a lot.
Audio button on the remote allows you to get English-language commentary - haven't had time to see what other content is offered, though.
So for watching football, no complaints so far.

365sport also worked pretty well, considering it's still in the set-up phase.
Picture quality was good on my computer monitor (32" LED LG TV) using HDMI cable from the graphics card.

Experienced the same problems as Big Boy with the Android box, though I was really expecting it to be worse at this stage. Picture quality was excellent.

Well, my 365 free trial finally started today - a bit late, but (crucially) in time for today's Spurs game. I've just checked it out by watching the Arsenal game  :naughty: :lach:  :butt: :thanks: :neener:  and it seems fine. I could clearly see every furrow and crease on Arsene Wenger's brow...

Wow - Thanks for that! This looks like it will probably be the best option for getting a reliable F1 stream. Couldn't get any of the web links to work so had to run it through the Windows software. Will be even better if they get a dedicated Android app.

[sorry I know this thread was intended to compare the football coverage]

I worry about 365's choice of programming. They've got 3 channels up and running at the moment yet for F1, which they advertise as one of the sports you can watch, there's only a re-run of qualifying being shown on Sunday morning. No live qualifying on Saturday and no live race on Sunday.

I know this is only a trial, and I know that there will be 5 channels when they 'go live' but even with 5 channels I can imagine in World Cup and European Cup times, other sports will be given the finger to make way for football. Considering F1 is the only sport I watch, 600bt is already a fair amount to pay for the package, even more so if I end up finding that a race has been sidelined to extra footie coverage.

365 Sport is unwatchable tonight using my Android Box. Switched to my laptop, and it's fine.

I'm guessing that because the Android Box software is awaiting major upgrade, I'm suffering the 3BB data packet problem.

@Pleng - If you can resist looking at news coverage for a day you can download the F1 races from Sunday night/Monday morning (practice & qualifying sooner) at http://kickass.to/usearch/formula%201/? ... order=desc and usually there is a choice of BBC, SKY or Setanta Sports depending on your preferred commentators. They are normally a few Gb for the race but they are HD (for super HD the download is about 20Gb) and I've yet to have a problem with the SKY coverage ones.
Of course, it's not strictly legal but then I'm not convinced Expat TV is either (and it's not free).

BBC coverage of qualifying has just been posted.

I moved back to the Android Box after about 70 minutes - whatever the problem had been, it had been sorted. I also noticed all of the matches except Newcastle vs West Ham were shown in HD. I had never realised, but the HD made a huge difference.

It would seem that 365 is the way to go ( i am not interested in the majority of CTH channels ), however it was said that 365 do not have all their 5 channels operating ( Rugby?) - does anybody have more info on this and should one wait until next month when all may be in operation?

All 5 channels are operating. Do you need some sort of upgrade?
