A heads-up for those of you who own a truck with a Carryboy type shell. When you renew the license you won’t be allowed to do it through a third party. The registered owner must go to that place under the fly-over (KSC or something) in person. You need ID card or passport, house book and the receipt for the shell. If you don’t have the receipt you need to go dealer and have them do a bogus one. The generic one stores use to avoid paying VAT is not acceptable. It must have the company name printed with VAT info on it. Since the store isn’t going to pay the VAT, you have to. After the sores figure out what going on they’ll probably start charging a couple hundred baht for the service.
Your reward for this effort is a 1500 baht tax increase on your yearly license fee.

Re: New 'Truck with a Carryboy Fitted' License Requirement
Thank god my truck is in my wife's name. Now if the Carry Boy was on my motor bike....I'd be in trouble. Thanks for the info!
Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?
Re: New 'Truck with a Carryboy Fitted' License Requirement
I don't have a truck but a pick up fitted with a Carry Boy shell.
I'm looking forward to see if this is true or not.
(Never seen a truck fitted with a Carry Boy but then I'm only a humble non English speaker who just believe he know the difference between a pick up and a lorry where the latter is a TRUCK.
Receipt of the CB: no problem.
My yellow housebook and the equally red passport, no problem.
Looking forward to my incredible 1500 Baht fee raise if true.

I agree with you Norseman, but it is another of those "English" words that can, and do, have multiple meanings! To be correct in this context the word should be pre-fixed with "pick-up".Norseman wrote:(Never seen a truck fitted with a Carry Boy but then I'm only a humble non English speaker who just believe he know the difference between a pick up and a lorry where the latter is a TRUCK.
You can find a "truck" on a ship, especialy a sailing ship / boat! In days gone by the wheel on a ships cannon carriage was called a "truck"!

Thanks Nereus, now I'm aware of that I own a truck thus making me a trucker.

Ah there always has to be one Tea Bag in the crowd.

Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?

New tax for car registration
Went to do the yearly car checkup for new car registration today and got quite a surprise. Apparently any modifications done to your existing vehicle that is not noted in your blue book upon purchase, i.e. change color, carryboy, etc. no matter how long you've had it, will incur at least a 2,000 bt. tax. + go get letters from immigration +++.
