Best Visa To Have...???
Hi folks,
Just looking for some advice on the best way forward.
I have a home in HH. My wife lives on a retirement visa but I have only ever entered on a tourist visa as I work elsewhere and am on a 9 weeks on, 3 weeks off rotation. So the 30 day tourist visa has always been sufficient each time entered.
I am now changing jobs, still outside LOS, and will be on a rotation of 6 weeks on, 6 weeks off. So, each time I come home now I will be here for around 40 days.
Can anyone advise me on the best way of proceeding in the future?

Can the husband piggyback onto the wife's retirement visa? May be a challenge for the immigration office to understand the reverse concept. If that's possible perhaps the only thing needed is a multiple entry stamp? Pete ![Cheers ](./images/smilies/icon_cheers.gif)

I'm on thin ice from this point forward. We have a few visa experts on here, primary being moderator Lomu but he may be traveling at present. Someone should be along to explain things better in due course. Pete ![Cheers ](./images/smilies/icon_cheers.gif)

I'd suggest the two solutions mentioned above.
If you don't fancy applying for a tourist visa (good for 60 days and you can extend for another 30 if ever necessary) each time, then piggyback on your wife's retirement extension.
For the latter, you'll need to show that you're married, so marriage certificate and your wife will need to be with you when you apply. It could be that your extension will only run until your wife's expires. So, if her's does in 6 months, possibly that'll be all you'll get. Hopefully, BB can shed some more light on the situation as his friends have done this recently.
At least you know it's possible. You'll need a re-entry permit once you've got your extension to keep it alive when you exit the country. They come in single and multiple varieties. Easy to get. Just apply at same time as the extension.
There is a third route that's open to you. Enter on a 30 day stamp and then extend it by 60 days to be with your wife/spouse. You'll need to prove the marriage. Extension will cost the normal 1,900 THB. If you use this route, be sure to ask Imm whether you can do this a limitless number of times.
For me, the annual extension (1,900 THB) and multiple re-entry permit (3,800 THB) would be the easiest route as long as timing of expiry isn't as issue.

Re: Best Visa To Have...???
Assuming he's old enough, why couldn't he get his own retirement visa and annual extensions?
Re: Best Visa To Have...???
Can do that but not everyone wants to tie up another 800K in a Thai bank.
But good point especially if he's earning over 65K overseas monthly income.

If he's working that hard he must have sufficient income....lomuamart wrote:But good point especially if he's earning over 65K overseas monthly income.
Re: Best Visa To Have...???
Nothing special - a couple moved here to retire. Wife was the one with funds, so the visa was obtained in her name. Husband simply piggy-backed.lomuamart wrote:Hopefully, BB can shed some more light on the situation as his friends have done this recently.
