Hi,
Does anybody know where I can buy lamp oil/kerosene (eg citronella or lemon grass) in HH? Have looked at various shops like Home Pro, Living Index but with no luck ...
Thanks
Sandra

Thanks Ratsima!

I think you're going to have to add the scent yourself. Small Thai speciality shops should have the small bottles of concentrated fragrant oil used by spas. You can put a few drops in the lamp oil. Pete

Thanks Pete! Was wondering about that ...
Re: Lamp Oil / Kerosene
To be honest I don't think adding some scented oil will be effective of masking the smell of the kerosene itself.
Those oils you refer to Pete are typically added to a small bowl of water which site just above a candle. You can also get scented candle wax in liquid form but I'm not sure where you find it in Hua-Hin.

Could be TK. The wife uses them as you describe. I assumed they would let off fragrance if put into the kerosene as well, maybe not. There are scented lamp oils in the west...maybe here somewhere as well. 40 years ago every house in Thailand had kerosene lamps, but indeed I don't recall any of them having a citronella or any kind of good fragrance. Thanks for all input - failing oil, will give the kerosene a try - I know that I can use olive oil in the lamps, but expensive solution.
BTW, oil mixed with either Citronella or Lemon Grass is excellent for keeping mozzies away, with the advantage of smelling great. We use this in South Africa.

Excellent, so the next time you fly back for a fresh supply, please remember to bring back plenty of droeworse, some of which you could kindly donate to this drooling South African.

BTW, both citronella and lemon grass is incredibly easy to grow here.
