Just to mention that the annual Dragon Boat Race Day at the mouth of the Pran Buri river in Pak Nam Pran will be held this Thursday, 14 November.
The event starts at 9 a.m. with the final at around 5 p.m.
It's a great day out and an exciting spectacle for those who have not seen it before.

I'd love to watch it Barry - thank you. Where is the best place to aim for to get the best views please?

Hi BB,
The best places to aim for are:
1. Go past the entrance to Mermaid Cruises Marina into the village, follow the road round to the left and then take any right hand turn/track down to the river.
2. Go into Pak Nam Pran proper, go straight ahead at the main roundabout and then take any turn to the left down to the river.

Re: Dragon boats
Hard to imagine that some of us nutters on this forum actually took part in this mayhem.
Some of those crews are mean looking buggers believe me. But I seem to recall that the crowd actually gave 'The Crazy Farangs' a splendid cheer for just turning up - yet alone taking part.
It was good fun nevertheless - despite the aching glutes
I have fond memories of our 'training sessions' and the 'master plan' - to get eliminated in the first round (Not too difficult) and retire to The Peacock for some imbibing.
All in all we succeeded very well.........
Thanks for sharing the pics BB
