More than 100 vehicles were damaged last night by metal spikes laid on roadways in Petcahburi and Prachuab Kiri Khan provinces.
Unknown individuals laid the caltrops along spans of Petchakasem Road, which links the capital to the 14 southern provinces.
Although police responded to complaints by searching the road for the troublesome traps, motorists continued to blow out their tires. Few of the victims had spare tires, however no injuries have been reported, according to police.
Because they were all laid on the side of the road headed into the capital, speculation ran they were intended to prevent protesters from reaching the capital today (Sunday Nov. 24). Ten buses carrying hundreds of anti-government demonstrators were disabled by the devices.
Some police vehicles were also damaged by the spikes, Khaosod reported. (Longer version: http://www.khaosod.co.th/en/view_newson ... =&catid=01 )

Knowing this place, it wouldn't surprise me if it was the local tyre dealers trying to increase business if it's currently a bit slow.
