I'm looking to purchase a half decent charcoal BBQ.
Any recommendations for a shop that sell BBQ's and accessories.
Cast iron grill/ cast iron hotplate.
They do indeed, both grills and bags of bbq charcoals.
I had no luck in finding charcoal lighter fluid, though. Looked around the bbq equipment and the area of various flammable liquids (paint thinners and whatnot), but found nothing specifically meant for the purpose.
Anyone know what would be a safe alternative? Have some kerosene, but that's quite toxic, so unsure if that's a good idea.
I'm not sure about the Home Pro charcoal, but the regular sort of charcoal that all the Thais use tends to burn quite readily with nothing other than some news paper or some finely peeled bamboo. Having said that, I would imagine kerosene (which you already have) would be fine since you would only need a small amount, and it would be burnt up long before you start cooking. People cook on gas BBQs and petroleum gas is also toxic. Many street vendors actually use a piece of rubber from an old flip flop to start their fires, so I guess you could try that as well.
What do I use - two or three handfuls of chopped coconut husk that you can buy from any garden center. I produces a lot of smoke though, but by the time it's finished smoldering away the charcoal lit.
How about lighter fluid?

I was a bit disappointed with with the quality of
the charcoal BBQ's on offer, so I built my own.
Got some trays made up at a local fabricating
shop but had to buy the cast iron grill tops from
Bangkok (not cheap.)
All in all it cost about 10,000 baht.
For BBQ there is not much on offer in HH however Pattaya has a big store, I would recommend taking a look at the following link and they will be opening in HH soon, good quality Ozzy BBQ's

That's nice. Sort of what I plan to do when I build my house next year. How much were the grill tops?
