Hi Guys,
I just need to ask a simple question on if I need a degree for a NON teaching job in a school that does not require a teaching license.
I have a new job in a british school in BKK, the HR guy seems to think that you need a degree to get a work permit from the labour department,
My role/job that I do is IT network support,
my previous work permit was given without a degree without any issues,
so the question I am asking is do I need a degree to get the work permit for a school job if the job does not involve teaching and does not require a teaching license.

In short - No!
If you are not teaching or interacting with the students in anyway then you do not need a degree to get a work permit.
Saying that, the school itself may have a blanket rule that everyone must have one. Each place has it's own different set of rules, but as long as the occupation you are applying for (or got already) is nothing to do with education then you don't need a degree.
Also, rules change here all the time so, maybe, just check with the labour department by phone and then you can clear it with the school should any issues arise.
