Many people, myself included, have applied direct via the agency VFS (not the British Embassy) and whilst it requires a day trip to BKK, it's relatively straight forward and of course avoids having to pay a middleman.nij400 wrote:Can anyone reccomed a agency in hua hin that can process a visa application.. The usual advice from those in the UK that have gone through this process is don't use a visa agency. There are some horror stories out there and no guarantees. You might want to check Thailand-UK dot com. Detailed step by step guidance on how to prepare a visa application can be found there.

My son went through an agency some while back, it was not successful.Dannie Boy wrote:Many people, myself included, have applied direct via the agency VFS (not the British Embassy) and whilst it requires a day trip to BKK, it's relatively straight forward and of course avoids having to pay a middleman.nij400 wrote:Can anyone reccomed a agency in hua hin that can process a visa application.. Use the embassy agency directly in BKK, yes it means a visit to BKK and possibly some traffic congestion. Apply on line, complete the online application, make your appointment for your visit and be 200% sure that you have all of the paperwork required and in your wife's possession when you visit the agency. Take more paperwork than you need but be sure to have a statement letter of your bank account, letter of invitation and valid paperwork as to why your wife would want to return to Thailand i.e. Property, Job, commitments in Thailand, return flight reservations/bookings etc. the full list is shown on the agency website.

Really? Back in the day when I played that game, the advice was don't book flights as the application may be refused.Bristolian wrote:return flight reservations/bookings etc

It's a bit of a catch 22 - you're correct that you could get the visa refused but then again, they also look for some form of commitment to return and of course for that you need a return ticket!!Big Boy wrote:Really? I haven't checked but I'd be surprised if they advise you to buy a ticket in advance. It certainly would not be regarded as evidence of a commitment to return.Dannie Boy wrote:It's a bit of a catch 22 - you're correct that you could get the visa refused but then again, they also look for some form of commitment to return and of course for that you need a return ticket!!
We still don't know what visa the OP wants?

I know it is not valid for visas to the UK, but for Norway or any of the other Schengen countries, a requirement is that you can provide a booking of a round trip ticket (so you don't have to purchase the ticket until your visa is approved), and the visa will be issued according to the dates on the ticket booking.
