When I left for work this morning in BKK it was 17 degrees but felt much colder in the strong wind

Agreed Brrr brrr brrr. Great to see a lot of the Thais in quite heavy coats, hats and scarves.

This is only my 3rd winter living here permanently, although I've spent many a Christmas visiting and can't remember it being this cold over such a prolonged period - it must be the wind that makes it feel colder than normal.

This is the coldest I've ever felt it along any coast here. Different up north but this is not up north. Every Thai I've talked to since Christmas says the same thing. It was 13c early this morning per my thermometer and now at almost 2000 it's down to 18c. The coldest in my area is the hour before dawn. I literally shiver to see what it is 10 hours from now. Pete

We're spending our 3rd February on HH this year and normally the weather is like a British Summer (on a good year)......
So does Brrrr mean cold to all you ex-pat's who experience the constant heat, or will it be Brrr to me too ???

Most of the UK expats go brr any time it gets under 80 degrees F. All my life I was told that 72F (22c) was normal room temperature which means the most comfortable temperature for the human body. It's now high 70s (26-27c) during the day and low 70s at night (wind chill maybe mid 60's) and some people act like they think it's going to snow!

It reminds me of California weather in the south bay area (San Jose) where I lived for a long time and always thought it had the best weather in the world.

It was quite cool from mid November to mid December when I was here before Christmas, I arrive next Tuesday and if it is still cool that's fine by me.
Although I don't like it too cool when on the beach, the wind blows my knotted hanky off my head. :)

Coldest weather in decades hits Thailand

January 23, 2014 12:59 pm

The temperature in the Thai capital Bangkok fell to its lowest in decades Thursday, during an unusually cold winter that has already claimed 63 lives in northern parts of the country, the government said.

"Bangkok hit its coldest record in 30 years Thursday morning when the temperature fell to 15.6 Celsius," said Songkram Aksorn, Deputy Director General of the Thai Meteorological Department.

This year’s cool season has been the longest for a decade, lasting for almost three months, Songkram said.

Temperatures in north and north-eastern Thailand have dipped to single digits, claiming up to 63 lives in 24 provinces, the Ministryo f Health said Thursday.

Most of the dead were suffering from diseases that were exacerbated by the cold weather, ministry officials said.
