Hi,
When sending letters to Thailand from Europe and vice versa, would post office officials understand a western script??

Yes they do - better to print it than write it.
Be very careful if you are sending to Austria (it's right next to Australia according to the Thai post office) unless you mark it as Austria, Europe.

lol, ok Thank you for that info. considering the cost of the 'cat' cards i'll probably ring more then write
