Burger King coming to Market Village

Post by Pleng »

Saw a sign at Market Village saying that Burger King will be opening there. It's where the old wine shop used to be.

Food for thought:
I moved here 2 years ago and there was 1 McDonalds, 1 Burger King and 1 KFC. We now have 2 each of BK and McD and THREE KFCs. That's pretty rapid expansion!

First moved here 1990. No Burger King, McDonalds, Starbucks, Black Canyon, Subway, a couple of opticians and tailors and no property sales offices. Absolutely wonderful. Expansion since then has been crazy and not all for the good. At least there will be an alternative stooge fix for those moments when I need one in MV.

I visited Huahin first time in 1995 and liked it very much.
I now live in Prachuap city and will move southward as soon as it takes the same expansion...

Getting back to subject. The shop size is quite small considering Starbucks is the other side. Will be interestingly to see which gets more crowded. My own view is that BK is the better " quality" and usually more expensive so perhaps we will see the true hiso and those with a limited budget in the bigger place across the way. Not sure that any hiso would be seen dead in either place though.

For about a month that place had signs saying that it was going to be a Russian restaurant, then they went and the burger king took over. It is as you say next to s'bucks, rather than to Dairy Queen.

I'll take a 'Double Whopper Cheese and Bacon' over Thai food any day of the week...

Of course, not every day of the week though  . (thinking of the last caption competition photo now)

There is a story that McDs has a large dept ----- urban planners, real estate experts, sociologists, real estate experts to decide where to locate new franchises. BK has no such dept, that wait forMcDs to open, then open next door.

7-11 like to follow both business philosophies at the same time, which is why when one 7 11 opens, another one always seems to pop up right next door or just across the street :)

Or used to be a Family Mart across the street from every 7/11.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
