Barefoot running shoes

Post by hhfarang »

Has anyone seen any brand of "barefoot" or "minimalist" running shoes for sale anywhere here?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Wow, thanks! I went to that mall shortly after they opened and wrote it off as a building not worthy of entering again. Now maybe they actually have something in there that I'm interested in. I'll check it out!

I actually bought a great pair of running shoes there about a month ago. Not the kind you're looking for, but worth mentioning because I almost didn't go into that mall for the same reasons as you. Good price too.

Be careful before you invest. I work with a distributor of barefoot or natural running shoes. You will very much need to adapt your running style to accomadate your shoes. He said it will take about 3 months.

I have a bit of a halfway house in Nike Flynit Lunar and they are great.

Little 26 mile jog around london in a few weeks lol

I actually cannot run, so I've been doing a lot of walking on an inclined treadmill. After doing it for a while with normal running shoes and reading about barefoot running/walking, I tried it barefoot and it feels great... for about 10 minutes at a time; then the rough surface made for traction on the treadmill belt starts to irritate the bottom of my feet... so I think the barefoot type of shoes would be perfect for me as they will provide protection from the irritation of the belt but give me the "barefoot" feel which I really like.

Wow, I went to Colonnade Mall today for the first time in a long time and the first floor is nearly nothing but a shoe mall! The stores are about 70% shoe stores and among that about 70% of the shoes were sport/athletic shoes.

I didn't find any true "barefoot" shoes but I found some Nike minimalist shoes that are made for nearly the same feel, however they weren't cheap for over 3k baht per pair. Other stores had brands like ASIC traditional running shoes that looked good for 1500 baht so some deals can be had. The Nike's I bought were marked down from 4500 baht to 3500 baht, but knowing how things work here I asked for a further discount and they immediately went down to 3080 baht, so it never hurts to ask.

I found several other shoes that I was interested in but the problem as usual here was that they only had them in smaller sizes. I think I even bought 1/2 size smaller than I should have (the biggest they had), but the problem is in width, not length, and these are made of a very light weight stretchy material so I think they will be ok.
