Deema restaurant soi 80

Post by theprice01 »

Hi,
with regard to not clogging up the restaurant 'news' thread, I thought I would start this.
I missed the opening night but ate there tonight, food was as you'd expect, 50Baht stir-frys etc.
I did find it strange there are no menus?!? can it be classed a restaurant with no menus?? lol

it wasn't busy and got talking with a fellow expat who is a member on this forum, who was nice.

*mods, please note, iv nothing to be with the business apart from eating there tonight. (certainly not silly enough to have a financial interest in a restaurant who doesn't have menus  )
When nosy expats ask how can i live here without working, i reply, 'well, while you worked hard for 50 years, i worked smart for 5 years' :D

it was ok, similar to what you get at the food stands in soi 86 night market. (same price too)
they do western food as well, but didn't try it.
...I think the term 'restaurant' is pushing it as when I was there it was the same lady cooking & serving. im sure there were no condiments on the tables... but maybe she hadn't got them out yet.

Does anyone know how the opening night went?!?

I went to the opening night. It was busy but a trifle too noisy. Usual Thai karaoke set up which had to be reigned in occasionally.

In answer to your question on menus I think they are in the process of development although I understand their market is primarily takeaways to the ribbon of soi 80 bars who's occupants already know the owner and staff and they also know what Isaan dish they require and have no need for a menu.

Cheap, cheerful and good Isaan food IMO

An update

Went there this afternoon for a quick bite before venturing off for the all important LFC vs CFC match and a few observations

Menu now in place
Furniture updated to solid wooden tables and chairs
Primarily good/cheap Isaan food but breakfasts and farang food available
Big screen tv now installed but no music(great)

Suits me as I like a Thai/farang fusion meal. Today was laab moo with real chips. I was tempted by there F/C which is bread crumbed fish with REAL chips so maybe next time

Soi 80 is beginning to take off regarding eating venues.

ps. No personal interests but owned by a friend of a friend
