Hua Hin one way system
Hua Hin one way system
Looks like the anticipated one way system has been implemented around the town centre according to my niece who has just been round that way. Will no doubt have others reporting on this and if it is to be enforced 24/7.
I gather it is just the stretch between the traffic lights on Petkasem and the railway crossing roundabout with traffic only able to go away from Petkasem. Will be interesting to see how soon a separate bike lane comes into effect.

Experienced this earlier today. MIB posted in some strategic places but not everywhere they were needed. What is normally a quick 30 min visit took me over an hour this morning. Bikes coming both ways in Sa Song road, cars ignoring the no entry signs. As for the wonderful junction over the railway line !!! TIT. It is only going to get worse.

Re: Hua Hin one way system
Could someone elaborate on this please. Traffic going south on Petchkasem goes straight? Going north you cross the railway line? Where are the turnings?
Sounds like a real mess to me.

Re: Hua Hin one way system
just seen this coming down from the round about to the lights on the corner of the day market street, looks like the bottom of this rd is now one way onto petchkasem rd, the other one ways look like the top of the night market rd, during the day and the bottom of the nightmarket rd down towards truew visions.
Re: Hua Hin one way system
I had a bizarre experience riding down the road that splits the night market.
The traffic lights were turned off (presumably something to do with this one way system; didn't see any 'one-way' signs so I drove straight across. I must have missed something though, as none of the vehicles behind me followed and they all appeared to be queueing quite patiently waiting for some sort of sign to move :S

I have been told that the MIB we're going easy on people today and to anticipate more severe enforcement tomorrow. Looks very complicated on the photo.

Re: Hua Hin one way system
I rode my cycle up Chomsin to the lights on Petkasem..sure enuf..cannot go straight over & up to the rail-crossing no more..turn right, north up Petkasem (past a team of workmen putting in even more cement 'centre barriers' on the end of the existing ones)..left turn to come back round to the rail crossing..OMG!..
..traffic queued back from rail crossing almost back to main Rd FFS!
Alongside the rail-track the road had cars parked on each side, the problem was (as ever) that no-one would yeild/give way at the 'crossing-roundabout', it was a JAM...even on my cycle it took me ages!
THEN..once back on Chomsin going up towards Hin Lek Fai I glanced down the Pala-U Rd and it was all standing traffic from the crossing right back to the bend where the Klong Rd starts..!!!
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE FARCE!!!

So wait.... you now need to go further up the road and, cross traffic further up where there are NO lights? And this is to try and ease congestion?usual suspect wrote:I rode my cycle up Chomsin to the lights on Petkasem..sure enuf..cannot go straight over & up to the rail-crossing no more..turn right, north up Petkasem (past a team of workmen putting in even more cement 'centre barriers' on the end of the existing ones)..left turn to come back round to the rail crossing..OMG!..
I think you summed it up perfectly...

Re: Hua Hin one way system
Passed the confusion this morning and so much for the plan according to the one in the photo. As usual the night market road was running from the railway to Petkasem along both sections. One wonders if the design was a kindergarten project for the kids of one of the powers that be.

Re: Hua Hin one way system
A RESULT FOR LOCAL TRADERS.. After a significant drop in trade around the market area following the implementaton of this stupid 1-way system..a mass rally comprising of many hh traders & stall holders converged on the HH district offices this morning demanding the system to be scapped!
The mayor of HH told the irrate crowd that the system would be in place for 1 week as a trial..
..well that seemingly was when the crowd kicked off!.. & DEMANDED the road system be resumed that morning!
Guess what....the new white directional arrows painted on the road on Chomsin are now painted over with dark grey & the road layout is as before...well done HH folk.
(Now how about the mayor doing something about illegal/double parking on the streets here..?

Re: Hua Hin one way system
Drove down there just after midday today and traffic was fortunately back to normal.
I had a look on the Tessabaan web site today and there was a notice about the one way system coming into operation yesterday (22nd). Of course the notice was posted yesterday as well. Anyway, this was apparently meant to be a two week experiment. Hopefully it's as US says and the experiment has been abandoned after one day.

Thanks for the update. I thought I must have been going mad - I could have sworn, tired though I was, that I rode past and saw the one way arrows painted on the road... even pointing them out on the road. Then I just rode past a few minutes ago and couldn't see them!

Re: Hua Hin one way system
I came into HH this afternoon from Cha Am not knowing quite what to expect, but was surprised to see the traffic backed up to Index and crawling 3 cars abreast. It wasn't until we got as far as the Palace that I realised it was nothing to do with the one-way system, but they were resurfacing the road outside the Palace and 3 lanes were narrowing to just one. Took about 30 minutes to cover about 2 km, but once we got past it, the traffic began to flow as normal. Not sure why they couldn't do something like that overnight when there's very little traffic, but hey ho!!

I thought I was lossing my mind to ,drove the wrong way to shopping mall and back 10 min.later
and the white arrow on the road was become graybut I did se 2 men painting when I went to s.m.
but thougt they painted them white.
5-6 men was fumbled whit a sign not shure it was coming up or down.
How in the world would they expect this nonsens would work in a area like this ?
agree with the dubbel parking but maybe thats the idea people can dubbel park without all the traffic
harrased them

Seems to me to be an awful lot of fuss about something that lasted less than a day.
The council makes a crap decision, the locals protest, the council backs down, and STILL the farang are complaining!
If this had been a local authority in Europe, you'd have been stuck with it.
