I will soon be putting my double cab truck up for sale.
Before doing so, I want to remove the Lodge logo decals and phone numbers which are on the bodywork.
I understand that this can be done using a hair dryer and a chemical cleaner that does not harm the bodywork,
Unfortunately the staff member who got the decals done for us, left long ago.
Does anyone know where I can get this done professionally ??
Removal of vehicle decals
Re: Removal of vehicle decals
hi terry
its quite a simple job that can be done by you or one of your staff, if they are vinyl lettering stickers pour boiling water over them and they will pill off even better if you leave the vehicle in the sun, the paint underneath will be in much better condition so you might have to polish the rest of the vehicle, another way is with a power washer but be careful you don't blast the paint of underneath the stickers
hope this is some help to you

Re: Removal of vehicle decals
Sound similar to using a hair-dryer ..but different.
I suspect the idea is to change the state of the adhesive underneath..by excess heat.
I've a sticker from HH Ford on my tailgate..it's about 18" long & now it's all crazy-paved it looks a mess..but it's a bitch to shift any of it..

I have removed vinyl lettering using just boiling water and a razor blade to lift the lettering with no scraping. You will need to T cut the paint afterwards and then seal with a good quality polish.

Re: Removal of vehicle decals
It’s fairly straight forward to remove decals, I have done this several times on my wife’s company vehicles.
First leave the vehicle out in the sun or you can heat with a hairdryer, and then spray the decal with a mixer of rubbing alcohol and water. Let it soak for 5 minutes or so, then using either your fingernail or a plastic knife peel the decal off the vehicle. You are then left with the decal’s adhesive residue, which can be easily removed using paint thinners.

...and the wife's nail polish remover works as well on the adhesive if no official paint thinner around.

Re: Removal of vehicle decals
Many thanks for the feedback folks
I finally took the truck to a place recommended by Barrys
In less than 1 1/2 hrs they had done the job - basically as Kendo described previous.
Looking nice and shiny now
Cheers
