I'll bet no one would find it amusing if I asked the rhetorical question 'What are HH expats able to do with greater accuracy, give directions or discuss visas?'lomuamart wrote:At Imm in HH, you're getting an annual extension to a visa based on retirement not a new visa which is what the other posts are about.

This is from the Cardiff consulate's website:
EXTENDED STAYS FOR PERSONS AGED 50 OR OVER

Persons aged 50 or above are now being allowed to take up retreat in Thailand initially for at least one year from date of arrival provided they are able to meet stipulated financial and other requirements, i.e.
a.Annual income equivalent to 800,000 Baht or monthly income of 65,000 Baht. (Current rate but subject to review)
b.Provide Medical Certificate confirming applicant has no infectious disease, (including Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Filatiasis, Drug addiction, V.D. Alcoholism is also precluded) and has not suffered an infectious disease for over 3 months.

d.If accompanied by Spouse – Marriage Certificate to be supplied. A proportional increase in annual income would also apply.
The above documentation has to be certified by a Notary Public and be submitted with 4 completed Visa Application Forms and 4 recent photographs, Passport size, together with Passport and appropriate fee of £125
At the present time the appropriate Visa “NON-IMMIGRANT” CAT “O-A” can only be obtained through personal application to the Royal Thai Embassy, 30, Queen’s Gate, London S.W.7 or the Office of the Immigration Bureau, Section 1, Sub Division 1, Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Sathorn District, Bangkok 0120. Tel 0066-228/3101-10 Ext.2236.
This is correct, I called Glasgow today and they have told me to apply in Londoon with the aforementioned documentation i.e. Police report and medical cert. I only came back to get my retirement visa and this has scuppered me. Any advice on getting round this would be appreciated. Also, can I apply for a retirement visa whilst in Thailand (over 50 visa)?
Re: Thai consulate Hull new retirement visa regs
Appears that you were hoping to get an OA visa, hence police and medical certificates.
Depending on your financial situation, you could try for a single entry Non Imm O visa. That will give you 90 days on entry here and it's the visa you need to apply for annual extension which is what most of us do.
The extensions can be applied for up during the last 30 days of your 90 and the requirements are over 50 years old with overseas income of minimum 65k THB a month or minimum 800k THB in a Thai bank account or combination of the two as long as total is over 800k.
You then get extended for a year and keep doing ad infinitum in country. No need for another visa.
There's a bit more to it in terms of proof, but the above are the bones. No need for police or medical reports for the extensions or the O visa.
