Bar Ratings
Was only there 2 weeks ago and spent my time in about 3 bars for various reasons. Sugar Cane, Johnny Walkers & Crawfors in town and a bit of a walk across the other side of the railway you have Bamboo Grove.
Special mention to the beach bar closest to the Hilton for beers, food and good sunbeds during the day.

I can honestley say we have never been made to feel anything but extremely welcome in all the bars we have visited in Hua Hin. Some of the bars where we have had a good night are Nat bar, jungle juice, occtopussy. gene? bar and Crawfords. Mai tai is good for people watching late afternoon/early evening.

Sam,
you're absolutly right
Peoples preferences vary. If we all wanted the same there would only be 1 bar in HH!!
I think we all have our favourites but now and again you need to cruise. My experiences when I go to BK is the same. Whether in Nana, Cowboy or Soi 33. A place you liked last time you went will more than likely have changed. Don't recognise anybody, music is no good now and the girls are too pushy. Answer? 'Take up thy rug and walk'

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

Last june i was in Hua Hin.
Most of the time i went to the Starfish. Place is okay and i know the staff and the owner. Also sometimes to the Celtic for a quick beer. For good music i went to the Gene Pub but i understand the band has left the building so now there is only expensive beer and an airconditioner.
Toro Toro bar i didn't like. Tried to whatch a football match and the staff didn't want to leave me be and look at the TV. Instead they were busy getting drinks out of me which worked hoping they would leave me alone.

I have just noticed this one as it has floated to the surface. The original post was based on a system of ratings based on many criteria (noe of them being bribery BTW). It has now been stopped. There is another thread on "what you like in a bar" and a couple of other already where this would be more appropriate. This thread really should be closed as it is now irrelevant.
I have replied to the above just to say that if you get ignored by staff when walking into the bar it probably means that the boss is not there. Shout nong crap louderand louder until you get attention even if they are using the telephone. In 99% of cases the bar owner would support you if they were aware of the situation.

I am not a fan of one particular bar. What I love is that first walk down the soi (upon arriving in Hua Hin from frosty Canada) and seeing the blurred, super-heated swirling, chaotic clash of tacky lights, sounds and movement coming at once from all the tighly compacted bars that signify one grand overwhelming "Howdy Stranger!" And saying to one's self: "Where oh where to have that first beer?"

Hard to be objective IMO unless facts are cited backed up with real info like who what when etc.
An opinion can reflect many things: one incident one time or the person has an axe to grind against an establishment or they don't mention their own attitude/behaviour or level of sobriety. I've seen posts from people slagging off hotels on the basis of an incident that happened four years previously. WTF? Bit of a cold case I think.
Places also change owners and staff behviour often reflects the owner's attitude - a fish rots from the head.
That said, if you haven't been to HH, the nightlife area is compact.
You can walk around it in 20 minutes to have a looksee and pick up the vibe.
If you go in a bar and its not to your liking the most you can lose is the price of a beer ($2). Kissing goodbye to a larger amount in a dodgy place means you are complicit.
