Has anyone been able to obtain a Debit Card from a Thai bank that can be used for online transactions at an overseas location?
I have been to a several banks here and they all nod their heads when asked if can be used overseas... but when go to sign up and ask the all important question, the nods become no.
Thai Bank Debit Card
Re: Thai Bank Debit Card
In short no....The debit cards they issue here are ok for ATM's and personal transactions but useless for online banking.
I have an account with Kasikorn Bank and they do a Virtual E card which I have been able to purchase online flights and hotel bookings.

I agree, The K web shopping card from Kasikorn is great but only for online purchases where you don't have to show the card. Amazon and those kind of places.
Although I have just applied for a debit card with my name on instead of the regular Privileged member, so when i pick it up I will ask and let you know.

The OP asked for online transactions so the K Bank internet upgrade is fine to buy things online anywhere in the world
Re: Thai Bank Debit Card
I have a K bank account with 'Privileged Member' on the debit card. I asked at the bank for the internet limit to be increased from 5k Baht a day to 50k Baht and after filling the necessary forms this was done. I was then enrolled for online banking and that was done within 48 hours.
I use my K Bank card for purchases on the internet all the time without problem. The only thing i cant pay for is in itunes store, but that is an itunes problem.

Re: Thai Bank Debit Card
Many years ago I arranged a credit card with Bangkok Bank which was set up with the balance being cleared automatically by BBL each month and therefore acting identical to a debit card. No interest, no hassle even with iTunes and points accumulated for gift program. Not sure how difficult this is to arrange now or if the banks will even consider.
