90 day reporting on non o visa

If you are arriving into the country and you are on a visa that requires you to report every 90 days then that passing of your passport to the immigration officer is counted as reporting. Your 90 day clock starts again from the moment you step into the country and from the date the immigration officer stamped you in on your passport.

I was told a couple of years ago that, when you returned to Thailand, you had to report to immigration within 24 hours.

I always do this (weekends excepted) and they give me a new 90 day paper in my passport.

They have never told me I don't need to do this.

Then you should feel free to continue doing so, if that's what you want, regardless of the fact that it's unnecessary.

slightly of topic . but your also supposed to inform imigration everytime someone stays at your house ,similar to what hotels are required to do

That's correct. I live here and work in the US. Using a Non-Imm O married visa, multiple entry. I have never reported any 90 days since I'm coming and leaving the country every 5 weeks. This is considered as reporting.

Allow me a little nitpicking. When you enter Thailand that it is not 'considered reporting' as reporting is only necessary when you have been in the country for a consecutive 90 days.

Yes, absolutely! But only applies to those that can count up to 90.

Nitpick away but for the purpose of this thread and not to confuse people with pedantics it is considered reporting for those who have a visa and are reentering the country. The clock then starts again and he/she will report at his local immigration office after 90 days. Of course if that person leaves before the 90 days the clock will start again when they re enter Thailand. In essence they have reported their address etc at the airport and that keeps the immigration officials happy.

Step 1: Enter (or re-enter) the country.
Wait 90 days, then if you are still in Thailand
Step 2: Report to Immigration with your passport.

So back to simplicity, if you stay in country you need to report to Imm every 90 days, if you leave the country and return, the 90 day clock starts again upon your return and you can ignore the previous date you had been given.
