Firstly
Dawn - your dogs are Thai - what do you expect - reaction or something?
Secondly
Me & Mrs. T lived in Taiwan for a while, so we are used to earthquakes. She confirms having felt them all (I'm currently in BKK so oblivious to all this rattling). Also my lads at the ponds have confirmed that the ponds 'slopped' a little yeseterday afternoon - not as much as they did on 26/12/04, but enough to indicate that something was amiss.
Thirdly
Just goes to prove that no matter where you live - nature and natural forces will get you in the end
Fourthly
Relax - have a beer - forget about it

The one I felt yesterday was a solid "bump", like a truck backing into a building. Not one of those good Claifornia "rollers" that last 10-15 seconds, and get everything swaying.
During one of the more interesting ones that I have been through, I was next to a tall pane of glass and you could see motion waves moving though the pane. It is amazing how flexible glass is -- to a point.

I guess that is because glass is not actually a solid but still a liquid right?HansMartin wrote:The one I felt yesterday was a solid "bump", like a truck backing into a building. Not one of those good Claifornia "rollers" that last 10-15 seconds, and get everything swaying.

This could get heavy
According to a volconologist that I just happen to know (He gets orgasmic over eruptions!!) - there are two major types of earthquake shockwaves.
'P' type - give you a thud or a severe one off jolt. Very dangerous for high rise buildings apparantly as the shock wave has no way to dissipate the energy and causes said buldings to sometimes implode if this is not considered in the design.
'S' type - more common and cause the swaying that we love so much
Unfortunately these seem to go on and on and can get nauseating if you are sitting high up in a high rise.
Seems if you live in a steel framed building you are much safer than in R/C.
You all still awake?

I have just felt one that was a much greater shock than anything previously felt here at about 04:10 AM Thai Time (GMT+7).
Nothing showing up on any site yet but most seem to be a few hours out of date.
Does anybody know of a site that is more frequently updated.

Felt that one & so did the dogs! Still no howling or barking (from me or them!
) but it definitely woke us up! This can't be a good thing, having so many small tremors, can it?
Not coming from an earthquake prone country, this worries me a bit.

When the last event happened on 28th, I was in Bangkok and oblivious to it.
Mrs.T was here in Hua Hin and felt them all.
At about 4.10 this a.m it woke us up and Mrs.T confrmed that it was bigger than any she had felt before.
Dawn
Yes it's worrying - but put it this way - it's far better to have a load of small successive tremors than one bloody great big one.
