....70 alleged prostitutes, including more than 50 transvestites and 7 Madagascan women,........ One of the suspects is a man and ten others are Thai women.....
I'm intrigued to know what the other two were!

Pattaya police stations must just be a farce to work at. What a circus that must have been with tantrums, make up and tiaras flying everywhere.

Didn't read the story but having lived there previously for 10 years and seeing these stories in the news nearly every month I would think it says that they have been fined and told not to solicit themselves in public again. The fine used to be a couple of 100 baht so they are not likely to be deterred from hanging around the Coconut bar (beach road promenade) in the future. It is a useless exercise that will keep repeating itself until they decide to fine them a couple of thousand baht and send them home to the provinces. They are indeed a nuisance in the beach area, they are well known for pick pocketing and if one were to walk down the promenade (almost impossible to walk down the sidewalk across from the beach anyway without walking into a stall or lamp post) with the girlfriend or with one's family it is indeed not a welcome sight. For some they are a highlight of their holiday.

Police said the crackdown would continue to protect tourists from being deceived and robbed
What the point of having a crack down there if when they have a crackdown there on people without a crack down there they still arrest people with a crack down there? Sounds to me like the police are trying to prove they have balls and are hoping to give them the willies.

Great news.

The arrest of ladyboys Pattaya will hopefully result in a reduction of "suicides" - i.e. foreign tourists alledgedly jumping off balconies in cheap hotels...

Isn't Madagascar the home of the DoDo?
Must have been the lemurs that gave them away.
